Khol Badar

The first bastion from which the Argantian Dwarves rebuilt their empire.

Demographics

Primarily Dwarves, with a Minor Human and elven population

Government

Khol Badar functions under the rule of the Caahin, though their ruling clans are not as entrhalled by the shifting will of the Sinticus as those within Din Buldar.

Defences

Khol Badar is entirely defended by Clan militia and residence. while impressive battlements have been constructed, the city has not fallen under direct siege. the majority of their defenses has been directed towards the horrors of Antaeus and the creatures from the Spire.

Industry & Trade

Khol Badar boasts the largest natural quarries of Irindor, as well as one of two dwarven cities with any kind of port at all.

Infrastructure

Khol Badar has the largest quarry in the Argantus empire, and access to immediate fresh water from the nearby lakes and floodplains. over the years of elven and human sailors making their way to the city for supplies a small port has been developing near the city though it does not lay within the walls itself.

Assets

Khol Badar mines a great deal of stone, marble, Mythril and Adamantium from the nearby quarries, old kingdoms, and the fallen star along the border of Antaeus.

History

Founded by survivors of the 7th Dwarven Reclamation Crusade nearly six hundred years after the end of Long Night. Living under the shadow of The Spire and the great hole in the roof of the world, Khol Badar has entrenched itself and its quarries against the creatures that would hunt them. Horrors from the Antaen fog, and extraplanar monstrosities from the Bay of Ashes has led to a growing number of Gryphon riders to grant the Dwarves air supperiorirty against these foes. outposts in the Faldurn foothills help secure the Gryphon roosts and allow training for the riders, and scouting for the Kobold infestation. Khol Badar has a minor port, or a dock, maintained by the immigrants that have made the Shield of Argan their home. Though the dock has been burned and overrun numerous times, the forces of Khol Badar will invariably rotue the invaders to protect a valued shipping lane. Many expiditions into Antaeus, mostly towards the Fallen Star Crater, stop in Khol Badar for supply. During the numerous Clan Wars Khol Badar served as a reffuge point for a number of displaced clans and valued supply rotue. many claim that Khol Badar was invaluable towards the defense of Din Buldar after the Gate of Koz fell in the deep. Once the Armistce was signed however, there were no laurels heaped upon the Shield of Argan, sowing discontent among the Clans of Khol Badar.

Points of interest

Khol Badar was build along a large field of quarry in the floodplains of a large mountain range and a lake, granting it abundant access to freshwater despite its reputation as a quarry city. While not an impressive display by any means, Khol Badar is the only dock for many leagues as well, and it boasts the largest quarry anywhere in what remains of Irindor.

Architecture

Khol Badar began as a small outpost to house supplies after a failed crusade to discover and claim fallen dwarven lands following long night. as such only the oldest buildings in the city are of traditional dwarven design, built to withstand prolonged heavy siege. once the city became more than an outpost, and the Dwarves understood the threats they faced, designed was changed to from the intent to repell armies to a number of battlements to keep creatures at bay. large hooks and sleek walls, pitfalls and high walls.

Geography

to the west of Khol Badar are the Flood Plains and Waymars Lake. to the east are the quarries from which Khol Badar derives its livlihood, and further beyond is the Fallen Star crater from which precious adamantium is harvested.

Climate

Under the shadow of The Spire, climate within Khol Badar can vary drastically from day to day changing as the seasons.
