Gate of Khoven

The Great Gate which repelled any invasion into Southern Krogar during the Endless Wars.

Purpose / Function

The Gate was constructed to be massive and imposing, as well as prevent any attempts to bypass the massive structure. Deep Caverns were filled with countless Undead to dissuaded the Dwarves from using them. The Wall stretched from one coast to the other, and was nearly 1.6 km tall to prevent any flying riders to easily bypass the defenses.

Alterations

The Gate of Khoven was constantly improved upon, further enchantments and additions were thought of regularly to combat the clever Dwarves and Gnomes who sought its destruction. Undead and Golem Titans were constructed to aid in the defenses of the Gate, as well as massive hordes of undead which could launch themselves against any would be attackers. spirits of the dead were ripped away and trapped within the stones to be turned on their comrades or empower Khoven spellweavers.

Architecture

The wall was originally build to be practical, though as Amnul's power grew it as well until it blotted out the horizon for kilometres. The stones were stained red, and eventually black with the blood spilled upon the walls.Gargoyle and other elemental defenders were bound in place to thwart attackers, runic symbols imbued within to kill as well as defend and empower the Khoven.

History

The Khoven Wall was a monument to Amnul's power, and his promise to safeguard the citizens who were pledged to him. so long as the Great Gate stood, the Khoven's faith in their everlasting Emperor was unwavering. Generations of war were nearly forgotten, the wall was so secure that no attempt to breach its gates were considered newsworthy to the average Khoven citizens. The wall was built long before the war with Argantus, a preamble to Amnul's plans for the region. It was built with Dwarven siege tactics in mind, its roots stretching deep into the Deep Caverns to cut off those avenues of attack. The Stones enchanted to withstand their picks and siege weapons, cursed to imprison the souls of any who died near it and rise them in defense of the structure. The battlefield outside the Gate was forever blackened by the Endless War, the broken dead laid at the feet of the Great Gate were risen and added to the Khoven war machine. Eventually though, the Wall fell, an unbound Titan Construct broke through the wall of the Khoven and allowed for the armies to break through after generations of failed attempts. The Titan Construct broke under concentrated fire from the Argantian armies, and they poured into the Khoven territories to end the war.
