Session0001

General Summary

Brimeia, Nera, Ravaphine, Seirixori Iscitan, and Urrak D'Akshi appear in Bellbury's town square. They introduce themselves and realize that the town is far quieter than any inhabited village should be. Once they realize that the commoners in the square aren't from around here, they start investigating to find out where they are and what happened.   The party pokes through a temple, finding a bookshelf full of religious texts and some beds and chests full of little more than clothes and wooden holy symbols. Ravaphine found a hand-scribbled map that mentioned the names Grimpeak, Clearhall, Riverrun , and Muyar Harbor.   Urrak heads into the Cracked Cask, leaves a silver for a mug of beer she drank, and goes back to the temple.   Eventually, the group spotted smoke from the south where they found a fire started by a sparking, magical item. They eventually put out the fire at Poni's house and find the QRST's base, Poni's body, and the control rod. They did a quick search of the basement where they found Poni's journals and blueprints and two crystals that power the rod.

Notes

  • When the game started, the original intent was to have each player come from their own planes of existence, but it was changed after several sessions so that all the players were in one world that they could then see the world change and be shaped by their decisions and exploits.

  • The first Perception check, passed by nobody, was to see if they noticed that the planes were different by noticing different moons or skies or something similar.

  • Originally, the temple in Bellbury was to Arawai of the Sovereign Host, but then it was changed to have an original religious pantheon for Vyon and Ascus, and the temple was retconned to Takara's .
  • The map the group found was not originally something planned, but a reward for a high roll on an intentional search. It manifested itself.

  • Takara is the goddess of agriculture and fertility and a sort of sister-goddess of Mielikki. They share adjacent domains, sometimes overlapping, but they are not exactly the same.

  • Most of Vyon's naming conventions are drawn from typical fantasy fare, but certain words like Yesa, Muyar, and others are remnants of the native human population of Vyon, before the Aurathi Invasion hundreds of years ago. Muya is the native name of Vydea, the moon goddess.
  • Riverrun is not supposed to be a Game of Thrones reference. It was just pulled from a random name generator.
  • With an investigation check, the party could have found a bottle of Dragonwyck Red, a fancy, expensive brand that the barkeep was probably keeping for a special occasion or a well-paying guest.
  • The perception checks as the group neared Poni's house was to feel the destabilized envirochronic resonance architecture, the disruption of magic in the area that caused queasiness.
  • Ravaphine is the first character to take damage in the game with 3 points of fire damage from a misthrown bucket of water.
  • DM says this was such a failure on my part, I felt. I had set up all this stuff about fire and smoke damage and I had to throw most of it out by the end because it was just not working and not fun. Definitely a lesson on over-preparation and what kind of rules make things fun and what makes it annoying. I also didn't expect the very realistic reaction they had to not pushing the button that apparently killed the last guy which, in hindsight, was also a miscalculation on my part.

Bellbury Square

[9:08 PM] DM: You're all going about your day the way your messages stated when suddenly your head starts spinning.   Everyone make a DEX save.   [9:09 PM] Seirixori : ((18)) Urrak D'Akshi: ((22)) Ravaphine: ((10)) Brimeia: ((9)) Nera: ((9))   [9:12 PM] DM: You're all fine... except Nera. Nera, you get dizzy and fall on your butt.   [9:12 PM] Aimee/Nera: "Oh fuck me"   [9:13 PM] DM: Brimeia was in the middle of swinging a punch and stumbles into Urrak.   [9:13 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Oi, watch yourself!"   [9:14 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: while standing and dusting herself off "I would, but I'd rather watch someone else"   [9:14 PM] DM: When you look around, you're standing in a town square. It was like you were in one place, you blinked and now you're here. Besides the slight dizziness, you didn't feel anything else. No tunnel of lights, no tug at your gut, no feeling of time passing.   [9:14 PM] DM: Perception checks, please!   [9:14 PM] Seirixori: ((10)) Nera: ((16)) Urrak D'Akshi: ((5)) Ravaphine: ((13)) Brimeia: ((16))   [9:16 PM] DM: As you look around, you realize you’re surrounded by a bunch of strangers, all standing in what appears to be some sort of village square. You all seem out of place, slightly confused, and you suspect whatever brought you here brought them as well. In addition to yourselves, there are several other people standing around. They look like they might even belong in the town square, commoners of the town itself, except they all look just as confused as you do.   [9:16 PM] DM: The floor is yours. Start by describing yourselves.   [9:19 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak straightens her back, trying to look as big as possible. With light strokes, she brushes the invisible dirt from her shoulder pad and checks to ensure her greatsword and dagger are still on her person. She peers over the crowd, and the square, trying to see if this is the place she was heading or something else entirely. Where ever she is, she hopes there's a pub nearby at least   [9:22 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori grips the quarterstaff in her hand, looking slightly wild with pieces of the forest she was just in stuck to her long two-braided dark purple hair. She takes a small step back, on edge from being suddenly pulled from the forest and thrust into a group of strangers. She mutters to herself, "Where the hell...?"(edited)   [9:22 PM] Aimee/Nera: Nera picks herself up off the floor and dusts herself off, hand instinctively going to the rapier at her hip, grasping the hand but not drawing her weapon just yet. She backs away from the strangers and looks around, confused. "Who the hell are you people? Where are we?"   [9:23 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: Brimeia, though dazed, does her best to recover quickly, signature smirk in place. She's a bit disappointed about the brawl, though. She was definitely one moment away from a knockout win. Then again, taking a glance around at the cluster of ladies around her, she can't say she's too disappointed.   [9:24 PM] DM: ((I'm going to keep going with description while you all 'get to know each other'))   [9:24 PM] DM: To the north are trees in neat rows, stretching out into the distance with the mountains rising beyond them.   Along the northern edge of the town square are two large buildings. The westernmost one is easily the most ornate building within view. Its exterior is made of well-crafted stone and has a symbol- a crescent moon and river- embossed in the wall above the entryway. The eastern building is made of rougher stone at the base and halfway up the first floor, then wooden walls up to the slate roof. It has a large sign outside of a barrel of alcohol with a large crack in it, pouring into a flagon. The words “The Cracked Cask” are carefully printed above the picture.   [9:24 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine sits on the ground, confused and wary of the strangers around but clutches her satchel and makes sure all her belongings are still with her.   [9:25 PM] DM: A stone fountain sits in the center of the square, a mechanism keeping the water flowing so it doesn’t become stagnant. Several buckets around the edge indicate that it is a major source of water for the people who live and work nearby. Along the outer edge of the roadway itself are several tents bursting with goods. Most of them are full of produce and other raw foods for cooking, though one is selling pies and breads and another has smoked meat and cheeses.   [9:25 PM] DM: The main road splits in three directions, northwest, southwest, and east. To the west another stone and wood building sits, this one with pillars carved to look like tree trunks. Beyond it, on the southern edge of the northwestern road is another building identical to the inn, this one with no sign at all.   [9:25 PM] DM: Anyone who wants to can roll a religion check.   [9:26 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: ((21)) Nera: ((13)) Ravaphine: ((7)) Seirixori: ((13)) Brimeia: ((5))   [9:26 PM] DM: On the southern edge of the square, is an obvious smith, its forge sitting out away from the wooden building. The city lies sprawled out to the south, an orchard to your north, and farmland to the west.   [9:28 PM] DM: Finally, you notice that for being the center of a village, it is very quiet. In fact, other than the group you’re with, you haven’t seen a single other person. The stands are empty, the fountain's buckets unattended.   [9:28 PM] DM: The commoners standing around you are looking about nervously at the well-armed people standing among them.   [9:30 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Well as much as I'd love to stay and be gawked at, I've travelin' to do. And a pint to grab."   [9:31 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori makes to leave, but notices the quietness is a little unsettling for a village, "It's too quiet."   [9:32 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak begins to leave, but as she does, Seir's comment stops her   [9:33 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "How quiet is too quiet for a town of religious farmers do you reckon?"   [9:35 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Serixori looks at the half-orc and grits her teeth, annoyed, "No town is ever this quiet if there are people living in it."   [9:32 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine approaches one of the strangers and asks "I don't mean any harm, do you know where we are?"   [9:33 PM] DM: The woman shakes her head. "No, miss. This ain't my town... I've never seen it before."   [9:32 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: Just as Brimeia thinks to head back to her fight, she realizes she has no idea which way that is.   [9:34 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak spins to face the woman "Say again?"   [9:34 PM] DM: She kind of cowers back. "I-- I said I don't know where we are?"   [9:35 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "Does anyone know where we are?" Brimeia asks, puzzled   [9:35 PM] DM: "I was at home making dinner. I don't know how we got here." Some of the others come closer, agreeing with her.   [9:35 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Yep, definitely be needin' that pint about now..." Urrak says, mostly to herself   [9:35 PM] DM: A burly man with a load on his shoulder nods at one of the buildings to the north. "That'n's a pub if I ever saw one."   [9:36 PM] Aimee/Nera: "I just appeared here...I was in another town altogether when I blacked out for a moment and got a little dizzy. Now Im here"   [9:36 PM] DM: ((It is daytime, early afternoon as best you can tell.))   [9:37 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "So... None of you know the way back to Halolis then."   [9:37 PM] DM: Another man pipes up. "What's a Halolis?"   [9:39 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: " I was on my way to deliver a package to...a friend of my mother's . I don't remember falling asleep, I just woke up here. Does anybody know where we are?" Ravaphine asks the group. She then approaches the closest building to try to see any sign of identification of the strange town   [9:39 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: Brimeia is taken aback. "You know. Halolis. The town just over... well, it's got... uh. I was fighting over there."   [9:40 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Never heard of the place, Tiefling."   [9:40 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "And I've been all over this realm"   [9:40 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "What. What do you mean, you've never heard of it."   [9:40 PM] DM: The big one to the right north of the square looks like a tavern. It has a large sign outside of a barrel of alcohol with a large crack in it, pouring into a flagon. The words “The Cracked Cask” are carefully printed above the picture.   [9:41 PM] Aimee/Nera: While no one is coming up with any answers, Nera steals some bread from a nearby stand.   [9:41 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori, not wanting to hang around these strangers, ignores the rest of the group and heads towards the temple she recognizes.(edited)   [9:42 PM] DM: ((Alone or is anyone following?))   [9:42 PM] Aimee/Nera: Nera, also follows Seirsklfasafdl to the temple   [9:42 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine follows. "Hey wait a second! You know that temple?"   [9:42 PM] DM: As you're standing around, the woman who was telling you about making dinner suddenly disappears.   [9:43 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: Brimeia, at a loss for what to do, is about to follow the others when the woman disappears. "Um... did anyone just see where that lady went?"   [9:44 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: She points at the empty space where the woman was previously   [9:44 PM] Aimee/Nera: "Don't know, don't care." Nera states plainly.   [9:44 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak, too overwhelmed by this mess, heads towards the pub. As she walks she throws up her hands and mumbles "people disappearin', tieflings talkin' hail, what in the world..."   [9:44 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori continues, not slowing and waits to answer, annoyed by the attention, "I know it's a nature temple, but nothing more."   [9:45 PM] Aimee/Nera: "I'm not too religious, but recognize the goddess of that temple. I figured it might be a good place to go until we can figure out how to get the hell out of here"   [9:46 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: Since everyone seems to have abandoned the fountain, Brimeia follows the trail of others   [9:46 PM] DM: The temple is to the west, the tavern to the north.

Temple of Takara , Bellbury

[9:46 PM] DM: The local temple is a simple building made of stone and wood like the others in this area. The pillars are carved to resemble tree trunks. The large center room holds several simple wooden benches, and in the back is a room with simple beds for the clergy. Three look as though they’ve seen use recently.   [9:46 PM] DM: Roll Investigation.   [9:47 PM] Seirixori: ((2)) Ravaphine: ((16)) Nera: ((14)) Brimeia: ((1))   [9:49 PM] DM: Ravaphine and Nera notice a bookshelf that has a handful of religious texts. They mention gods by the names of Takara, Mirran, Vydea, and Asten among others.   [9:50 PM] DM: Anyone that recognized Takara recognize the others as a pantheon of gods mostly worshiped by the people of Vyon and Ascus.   [9:51 PM] DM: The room is otherwise unfurnished besides the books and seats. There are no people to be found.   [9:51 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "So, um... what's this place?"   [9:52 PM] Aimee/Nera: "A temple"   [9:52 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: "Temple of the agriculture and fertility goddess Takara." Seirixori says slightly distracted by the beds in the back that look like someone was there recently.   [9:55 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "Oh." Brimeia says simply, turning from the halfling to the other tiefling. "Fertility, huh?" She smirks mischievously   [9:55 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori completely ignores the other Tiefling.   [9:52 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "I've seen these names before...not very common from where I'm from but my mother has books about everything. Maybe there's a map somewhere?" Ravaphine searches through the various texts   [9:53 PM] DM: Roll Investigation! Ravaphine: ((23))   [9:55 PM] DM: Ravaphine actually does manage to find something. It's just a scribble on a piece of parchment shoved into the back of a book, but it shows two roads converging at a place called Bellbury. To the west are names Grimpeak, Clearhall, and to the east, Riverrun and Muyar Harbor.   [9:55 PM] DM: None of you recognize it.   [9:53 PM] Aimee/Nera: Nera searches around/under the beds for any clues   [9:53 PM] DM: Go ahead and roll Investigation for it, Nera. Nera: ((1))   [9:55 PM] Aimee/Nera: "Literally where the fuck are we"

The Cracked Cask

DM: The door is closed, but unlocked. Inside, a bottle of ale is tipped over, a puddle on top of the bar under its mouth. Several plates of food and mugs are sitting out in various states, some untouched, some partially or wholly eaten. Some forks still have bites of food attached. A serving platter lies on the ground, the dishes and food that were on them broken and scattered as if it was dropped from shoulder height.   [9:47 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak walks inside and yells for the barkeep   [9:47 PM] DM: Nobody answers.   [9:49 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak walks behind the bar, picking an unbroken stein from the floor and tries the nearest tap   [9:50 PM] DM: It flows.   [9:50 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Praise the gods." She drinks the pint in one swift swig   [9:53 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: As she reaches for another, a nagging feeling comes over her. "Gods...All them other travelers made off towards the temple...I suppose I'd best join them. Not like this'll help get me anywhere but drunk..."   [9:54 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak leaves to head towards the temple, placing a silver piece of payment on the bar.

Back to the Temple

[9:56 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak barges in, yelling across the spare room "WELL? 'AVE Y' FOUND ANYTHING USEFUL?"   [9:56 PM] DM: Nera doesn't find anything she thinks is interesting.   [9:57 PM] Aimee/Nera: "We haven't found shit, and clearly you've done nothing useful either"   [9:57 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "Harbor? Are we near the ocean? If we can get to the coast, we can follow it to the nearest coastal town and find more civilians"   [9:58 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine inspects the rest of the book to see if any other paper fall out of it   [9:59 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Watch yer tiny mouth there, halfling. Hate to ruin these boots with ye. Lemme have a poke around..."   [9:59 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: ((18))   [9:59 PM] DM: Where are you looking or what for?   [9:59 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: ((through the bookshelf))   [10:00 PM] DM: You don't see anything else in the bookshelf but religious texts.   [10:00 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori pokes one of the beds with her quarterstaff.   [10:00 PM] DM: There are some chests in the back room next to the beds, like footlockers, but other than a change of clothes and some wooden religious symbols, you don't find anything of interest.   [10:01 PM] Aimee/Nera: Nera tries to open one of the chests   [10:01 PM] DM: They open, unlocked, but that's all they have in them.   [10:01 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Nothin but prayers and cloth in this holy shack..."   [10:02 PM] DM: The burly man from before comes in, looking nervous. "Uhh.... ladies? Just thought you might like to know two more people disappeared and another showed up. Seems you're the only ones with any ideas."   [10:03 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: "Where are you from?" Seirixori asks the man.(edited)   [10:04 PM] DM: "Uh... place called Highsun."(edited)   [10:04 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "That paper, elf. maybe we can pass it 'round the townsfolk, see if anyone recognizes the names."   [10:04 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine hands Urrak the parchment paper   [10:05 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak hands the paper to man "These places, do you know any of these places?"   [10:05 PM] DM: He glances at the paper. "I uh... can't read, miss."   [10:06 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: ((how many stories is this building))   [10:06 PM] DM: This one is just the one.   [10:07 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Ah, the man can't read...should'a stayed at the pub...."   [10:07 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "What were you doing before you got here," Ravaphine asks the man   [10:08 PM] DM: "I carry things for the shops. I was carryin' a package for the tailor."   [10:09 PM] DM: "You find any answers in here?" he asks.   [10:10 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Just the paper in 'er hand and some dusty prayer books"   [10:10 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "I think that means no."   [10:11 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Eagerly, Ravaphine questions, "Do you have your wagon for transport here? or any horses?"   [10:11 PM] DM: "No, miss. I just carry it on my shoulder. Ain't got a horse."(edited)   [10:11 PM] DM: "It's just between buildings in the market."   [10:12 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "We're spinnin our wheels 'ere. I say we start walkin east"   [10:13 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "Does anybody want to go back to the town and find answers?"   [10:13 PM] Aimee/Nera: "I do. It seems there's nothing else here"   [10:14 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine starts heading back towards the cobble road, but pocketing the book she found earlier with the paper   [10:14 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "I wouldn't say no to a walk with some beautiful ladies."   [10:15 PM] DM: You walk back outside. The commoners have decided to gather around one of the stalls and snack on some of the fruit. The large buildings to the north look like important buildings for the town, one much more nicely built than the tavern. There's an orchard to the north and a city to the south.   [10:16 PM] Aimee/Nera: "Did the orc find anything in the tavern besides a drink?"   [10:17 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Looked like a giant strolled through it. Food and drink scattered about...a true mess"   [10:17 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Not a soul inside"   [10:17 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "That's... odd."   [10:18 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Aye. Seems like folk in this town are bein' shuffled about same as us"   [10:19 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "I don't think we'll be findin' any answers here"   [10:19 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: "Standing here talking about it won't help either." Seirixori starts to head towards the giant building with the symbol of the crescent moon and river is.   [10:19 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "Well where do you think we'd find some. And maybe a fight or two?"   [10:20 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "There's got to be a reason we're all here in this mess together. I need to get to the top of a taller building, to see if there is any movement around the area"   [10:20 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "City's to the south of us, more folks to ask about that parchment"   [10:20 PM] DM: Seirixori, roll INT for me   [10:21 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: ((2))   [10:22 PM] DM: You get up to the fancy building, made of smooth stone and embossed decorations, and you think there's probably nothing important in there.   [10:23 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak turns to Brimeia "Your cousin make a habit out of just wanderin' off?"   [10:23 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "My who?"   [10:23 PM] Aimee/Nera: "You're cousins?"   [10:23 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "Who's cousins?"   [10:24 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Ah, apologies, you all look the same t' me"   [10:24 PM] DM: You're probably like 20' apart.   [10:25 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "What. Y'mean me and that other tiefling? Really?" Brimeia gives the half-orc a pointed look.   [10:26 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "I want to walk back to the inn. They might have more information about where we are. And we can ask more people if they've heard about the places on the paper. Does anybody want to come with me?" Ravaphine asks the group   [10:26 PM] DM: A woman carrying books pops into view near the fountain.   [10:26 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak jumps a bit "Never gonna get used to that..."   [10:28 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "I've read about this kind of projection, but I've never seen it in person" Ravaphine walks up to the woman, slowly not to scare her   [10:28 PM] DM: She still looks pretty nervous, looking around a lot.   [10:28 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori walks back to the group, reluctant to join them but knowing she should, and notices the woman near the fountain, "What kind of Sorcery is this?"   [10:29 PM] Aimee/Nera: "It's a projection?" Nera tries poking the newcomer to see if she's solid   [10:29 PM] DM: "Hey!"   [10:29 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "Excuse me, miss, do you happen to know where you are?" Ravaphine asks the stranger   [10:29 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: "Yes ask the person who just popped up here, if they know where they are."   [10:29 PM] DM: She rubs her shoulder, balancing her books in her other arm. "No. Should I? I was in my college's library."   [10:30 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "You wouldn't happen to know how you got here, do you?"   [10:30 PM] Aimee/Nera: "What college?"   [10:30 PM] DM: "No. Did you bring me here?"   [10:30 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "Nah. We don't know how we got here either."   [10:30 PM] Aimee/Nera: "No, we all just appeared here, like you did. We're trying to figrue it out"   [10:30 PM] DM: "The Mage's College at Paturil."   [10:31 PM] DM: None of you recognize the name.   [10:31 PM] DM: Perception checks, please.   [10:31 PM] Ravaphine: ((10)) Nera: ((11)) Urrak D'Akshi: ((8)) Seirixori: ((20)) Brimeia: ((4))   [10:33 PM] DM: Urrak notices there's a delicious looking berry pie sitting at the stall next to you.

The house fire

[10:34 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori notices smoke to the south and starts to head that way, stopping after a few feet to point it out to the rest of the group, "I believe that might be where our answers are."   [10:34 PM] DM: Once she points it out, you all can see the plume of dark purple south rising over the city to the south, down one of the wider streets.   [10:34 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Good a sign as any I suppose"   [10:35 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "I'll go where the ladies are."   [10:35 PM] Aimee/Nera: "We've got nothing else to work with right now, we might as well"   [10:36 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: After a defeated sigh, Ravaphine follows suit with the group   [10:36 PM] Aimee/Nera: Nera follows Sei ((I'm just gonna call you Sei if that's cool)) toward the city   [10:36 PM] DM: As you walk down the road to the south, you see the smoke more and more clearly, and it seems to be getting thicker. The buildings are getting simpler as you travel as well.   [10:36 PM] Aimee/Nera: "If we're stuck together I might as well know who you all are. I'm Nera."   [10:37 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Urrak."   [10:37 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "My name is Ravaphine. From a small town a ways away"(edited)   [10:38 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "A pleasure to meet all of you lovely ladies. I'm Brimeia, champion of the pits"   [10:37 PM] DM: Perception checks again?   [10:38 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: ((9)) Nera: ((7)) Seirixori: ((8)) Ravaphine: ((12)) Brimeia: ((13))   [10:39 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "Hey, tiefling, what about you?"   [10:40 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori had slowed slightly to travel behind most of them and glares at Brimeia, "Seirixori."   [10:40 PM] DM: Turning the corner, you see a shift in the way the buildings look. All the others have been of the same general style, but here the buildings seem to be haphazardly styled from dwarven to gnomish to everything in between.   [10:40 PM] DM: And one of those gnomish buildings seems to be the source of that smoke. Dark gray and purple smoke fills the air above the flames that are starting to spread from one point throughout the building.   [10:41 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: Brimeia slows for a moment as she walks. "I feel hungry. Or sick. I'm not sure"   [10:41 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "The smoke's getting thicker. I'm getting a bad feeling about this. Everyone stay close"   [10:41 PM] DM: One more perception.   [10:41 PM] Urrak D'Akshi: ((6)) Nera: ((22)) Ravaphine: ((25)) Brimeia: ((16)) Seirixori: ((14))   [10:45 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine sees the source of the flames. "Everyone, there's a fountain. We should grab a bucket of water and try to put the flames out"   [10:46 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine walks to the fountain and takes a bucket of water   [10:46 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak follows along, scooping up two buckets at once "Form a chain"   [10:46 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: Brimeia grabs a bucket too and follows the elf's lead.   [10:47 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori does as well.   [10:47 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "I'll fill, and you throw"   [10:47 PM] DM: Who's going to be the closest to the flames?   [10:47 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine gets as close as she can to the smoke as she can, trying not to inhale the strange purple smoke, and throws the first bucket of water   [10:48 PM] Aimee/Nera: Nera helps fill the buckets with water and hand them off to the heroic souls throwing water at the fire   [10:48 PM] DM: Ravaphine, roll a DEX save for me. Ravaphine: ((9))   [10:48 PM] DM: If you're wearing heavy clothes or metal armor, at a disadvantage.   [10:49 PM] DM: As you throw the bucket, it catches Rav off balance and she singes her arm on a piece of the burning wood. ((3 damage!))   [10:50 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "MOTHERFUCKINGGODSHITFUCKDAMNFUCKWHY"   [10:50 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: Brimeia, who was following close behind with a bucket, turns toward the elf with concern. "Are you alright?"   [10:50 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Surprisingly clumsy for an elf"   [10:51 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "Hey I don't see you getting that close to the flames, you beefcake"   [10:52 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: "Because getting close to flames is obviously something you should do."   [10:52 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak pushes Ravaphine aside "I'll show you how an orc handles things"   [10:53 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: She takes the bucket of water she has in her hands and throws it towards the flames   [10:53 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: the whole bucket   [10:53 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "I could take a look at that for you", she smiles at the elf   [10:53 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "You do realize there were only 2 buckets"   [10:53 PM] DM: The bucket hits the closed door, but goes straight through, splintering the charred wood.   [10:54 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "A true orc never admits failure"   [10:54 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "I do believe however, that these flames are insurmountable"   [10:55 PM] Aimee/Nera: "That's a big word for an orc"   [10:55 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "insur--what?"   [10:56 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "I'll make you into a fine coin purse once we're out of this mess, halfling"   [10:56 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine rolls her eyes and grabs the next bucket of water to throw into the flames, standing further away this time   [10:57 PM] DM: Roll a d20   [10:57 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: ((18))   [10:57 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: "You will do no such thing, orc." Seirixori growls.   [10:58 PM] DM: Ravaphine manages to quench all the flames at the the doorway, revealing the hole Urrak created.   [10:58 PM] DM: There is more fire further inside.(edited)   [10:59 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: ((how big is this opening?)   [10:59 PM] DM: It's the top half of the door. You think you could probably kick the rest of it open.   [11:00 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: Brimeia leaps forward and kicks at the remains of the door.   [11:00 PM] DM: Roll STR.   [11:00 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: ((23))   [11:00 PM] DM: The door flies off its hinges into the flames beyond it.   [11:00 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: "There's no repairing that."   [11:00 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "I hope they have homeowners insurance"   [11:00 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "Did we need it?"   [11:00 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Aha! Now that's more like it!"   [11:00 PM] Aimee/Nera: ((can we see what's in the room besides the fire?))   [11:01 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: "It doesn't matter now."   [11:01 PM] DM: The flames look like they've gutted most of the house already, but they're mostly only in one area now. The rest of it is charcoal and crumbled wood.   [11:01 PM] DM: The flames in the center seem to be sparking purple inside the yellow and orange flames you'd expect.   [11:01 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "That's a strange looking fire"   [11:01 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: ((will an insight check gain anything?))   [11:02 PM] DM: Investigation maybe, Perception maybe.   [11:02 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: ((2))   [11:02 PM] DM: You see fire.   [11:03 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori steps forward to check.   [11:03 PM] Aimee/Nera: Nera inches closer: ((24))   [11:04 PM] DM: Nera notices that the sparking is coming from a hole in the floor and the flames are at the edges of the hole, like a ring around the sparking.   [11:03 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine warily walks inside the building to check out the flames   [11:03 PM] DM: Everyone inside roll a CON save.   [11:03 PM] Urrak D'Akshi: ((20)) Ravaphine: ((18)) Nera: ((13)) Seirixori: ((10)) Brimeia: ((24))   [11:04 PM] DM: You all made your save! Yay!   [11:04 PM] Aimee/Nera: ((How big is the hole?))   [11:04 PM] DM: You can't tell with the flames in the way.   [11:04 PM] DM: Maybe 5' wide or so.   [11:04 PM] Aimee/Nera: "Lets get this damn fire out"   [11:05 PM] DM: There were several buckets.   [11:05 PM] DM: The fountain is the water source for the whole neighborhood.   [11:05 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Everyone grab a bucket!"   [11:06 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak runs to grab and fill a bucket, she returns soon after to throw the water on the fire   [11:06 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: Brimeia grabs a bucket, fills it with water, and hurls the contents toward the flames.   [11:06 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori follows suit.   [11:07 PM] Aimee/Nera: Nera also drags a bucket into the building to throw water at the flames

Investigating the house

[11:07 PM] DM: Tired, dirty, and smelling vaguely of smoke, you finally get the last of the flames out. There are a few smoldering embers here and there, but the smoke is clearing. There’s a hole in the floor of the room where the fire seemed to have started. Through the hole you can make out some kind of glowing contraption that occasionally sends sparks flying up through the hole.   [11:07 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "What in the hells is that?"   [11:07 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Nera should investigate"   [11:07 PM] Aimee/Nera: ((is it like a room that's through the hole or is it just enough space to fit the contraption?))   [11:08 PM] DM: It looks like the floor was burned away and there's a basement below.   [11:08 PM] Aimee/Nera: ((How far down is it?))   [11:08 PM] DM: About 15'   [11:08 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine casts light to inspect from above the hole(edited)   [11:10 PM] DM: On what?   [11:10 PM] DM: You cast Light on something that glows, so you carry it around like a torch.   [11:10 PM] DM: You can cast it on anything.   [11:11 PM] DM: Anything no bigger than 10' in any direction.   [11:12 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: ((pickup a piece of wood or something lol))   [11:12 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine casts a light to a piece of broken floorboard   [11:12 PM] DM: You have a Light!   [11:12 PM] DM: (insert Zelda Get Item song)   [11:13 PM] DM: Is someone looking in the hole?   [11:13 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine says "fuck it" and jumps into the hole   [11:13 PM] DM: Acrobatics check.   [11:13 PM] Aimee/Nera: Nera is smart and gets a rope from her bag   [11:14 PM] Aimee/Nera: ((iis there a place to tie a rope around here))   [11:14 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: ((17))   [11:14 PM] DM: You stick the landing!   [11:14 PM] DM: You can see you're in a mage's workshop. There are stairs on the other end of the basement leading up to the first level.   [11:15 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak yells down the hole "You dead??"   [11:15 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "Whaddya see down there?"   [11:15 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "I'M ALIVE"   [11:15 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "The elf is a madwoman..."   [11:15 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "Jump down, Nera, i'll catch you"   [11:15 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "I like her!" Brimeia beams   [11:15 PM] DM: You don't think you'd be able to tie the rope to anything sturdy enough to hold weight. The wood looks pretty fucked up.   [11:15 PM] DM: There are shelves and benches full of arcane and metallic contraptions and books. Most of them are in pieces, some half built, some half un-built, some appear to have been blown up. Against the wall on the far side is one of the latter. A huge scorch mark marks the wall in the shape of an archway, but whatever once stood in that space is gone. Only a base remains, about four feet wide and two feet deep, made of a metal that seems to shimmer through the different colors of the rainbow. All of this, however, comes secondary to the body lying between you and it.   [11:16 PM] DM: Um, but pretend you're on the base, not on the other side of the room because you didn't find the STAIRS. lol   [11:15 PM] Aimee/Nera: Nera puts the rope back in her bag and shouts into the hole "WHAT DO YOU SEE DOWN THERE?"   [11:16 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori leans over, "Do you see another way down?"   [11:16 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "I see stairs! across the way"   [11:16 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "They lead down here"   [11:17 PM] DM: When you look in that direction, you see some collapsed wood, but it looks like you might be able to move it out of the way.   [11:18 PM] DM: The debris is blocking the stairs.   [11:18 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine heads to the direction of the stairs and starts to remove the debris   [11:19 PM] DM: Oh, you're underneath. The debris is upstairs.   [11:19 PM] Aimee/Nera: Nera realizes this isn't going to work and decides to jump down too   [11:20 PM] Aimee/Nera: "Hey Ravaphine, catch me!"   [11:20 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori heads to where the stairs are to try and move the debri.   [11:20 PM] DM: Yes, you can remove it upstairs.   [11:20 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "Here, I'll lend you a hand with that"   [11:20 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine goes to catch Nera(edited)   [11:20 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak also goes to move the debris   [11:20 PM] DM: If you're helping, one of you rolls and gets advantage on the check.   [11:20 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: Brimeia strolls over and grabs the largest piece   [11:20 PM] Aimee/Nera: ((17))   [11:21 PM] DM: Nera also sticks the landing.   [11:21 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak goes to help Brimeia   [11:21 PM] Aimee/Nera: Nera goes to inspect the body   [11:21 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: ((10))   [11:21 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine also goes to inspect the body   [11:22 PM] DM: When you assist, you don't roll. The person rolling gets advantage on the roll and gets to use the better of her rolls.   [11:22 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: ((13))   [11:22 PM] DM: After several minutes of coaxing the debris away, you finally get the stairs clear enough to squeeze through.   [11:22 PM] Aimee/Nera: "Took you guys long enough to get down here"   [11:22 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak joins in the inspecting of the body   [11:22 PM] DM: The body is that of a gnome in wizard’s robes. His face and clothes show evidence that he was close to the contraption when it exploded, and he was killed by fire and shrapnel. However, despite the clutter atop the benches, none of it looks like shrapnel from this explosion. The floor is clutter-free.   [11:23 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: Brimeia edges cautiously down the stairs. This magic stuff is weird   [11:23 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Ain't like you can lift a beam, small fry"   [11:23 PM] DM: When you roll the body over, you notice there is an item clutched in his hand.   [11:23 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori heads down and stands near the body looking about.   [11:23 PM] DM: Roll perception, everyone?   [11:24 PM] Aimee/Nera: ((23))   [11:24 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: ((7))   [11:24 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: ((8))   [11:24 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: ((22))   [11:24 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: ((5))   [11:24 PM] DM: The item is about a foot long, metallic, and has runes etched into it. The color of the metal shimmers like the piece of metal under the scorch mark, alternating faint colors. At one end, there’s a hollow end covered in tinted glass, and at the other, a button covered with a flip-top shield to prevent it from being accidentally triggered.   [11:25 PM] Aimee/Nera: ((Can I push the button?))   [11:25 PM] DM: You can do whatever you want.   [11:26 PM] DM: It's shimmering, not glowing. Like it's made of some very strange material.   [11:26 PM] DM: Reflecting the light.   [11:26 PM] DM: Anyone with the Arcana skill can roll it to see if they can figure it out.   [11:27 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: ((4))   [11:27 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: ((14))   [11:28 PM] DM: Ravaphine, you don't know exactly what it's for, other than it's some sort of control for whatever that archway was, but being a wizard, you know there's probably some sort of blueprints or instructions somewhere in the lab.   [11:29 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine goes to inspect the bookshelves   [11:29 PM] DM: The difference between magic and madness is writing it down, after all.   [11:29 PM] DM: Investigation.   [11:29 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Not knowing what the dead gnome is holding, Seirixori starts looking around to see if there's anything useful to her.   [11:29 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: ((17))   [11:29 PM] DM: You find several hand-written journals on the bench closest to the explosion. They seem to be relatively free of damage, saved by the covers of the books. The loose paper on the table is charred and singed along the edges.   [11:29 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: ((15))   [11:30 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak knowing nothing of magic, searches around for anything shiny enough to seem important   [11:30 PM] DM: The books seem to have been written by a wizard named Poni, formerly of the Ebedine College of Wizardry, or at least that’s what’s written in the front cover with the college’s name scratched out. They detail the the ideas, building, and testing of many contraptions and machines. Most of them have scribbles and other marks across the entirety of pages. Several say “BLEW UP.” On one page, you see a diagram of what looks like the stick you’re holding.   Need a way to control it. A control rod. A button to start it up and send me and anyone I’m touching through. How to direct it? Coordinates? A sensor plate at the other end. What will work? (Try coordinates, names, personal items of people to find) Rod blew out again. I’m running out of the crystals I’m using. Only two left. I think I know what caused it though. Should be fixed this time for good. Success! I managed to teleport back to my room at the college and get my last few books. You should’ve seen the look on that evoker apprentice’s face when I popped in right in front of him. Pale as a sheet! I got the last few components I’ll need for the big test. I still need to figure out a way to direct the teleportation when it’s not a place I’ve been. Today’s the day. Going to try to travel through the dimensional barrier. Eloise has been bugging me, telling me to stop. She doesn’t understand! This could change everything! But you’ll see Eloise . You and that asshole Qarius. I’m going to be famous!   [11:30 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: Brimeia looks around cautiously   [11:30 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: ((9))   [11:31 PM] DM: There's a lot of shiny stuff in here, but a lot of it is also disfigured or half exploded.   [11:31 PM] DM: Did anyone pick up the rod?   [11:31 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak picks up the rod and inspects it   [11:31 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Strangest thing I've ever seen..."   [11:32 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "everyone, I think I found an explanation as to why people have been disappearing and reappearing..."   [11:32 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak only half hears Ravaphine, mumbling to herself "Looks to have a switch or button of some sort on it"   [11:33 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Oi, wizard! What'll happen should I press this here button?"   [11:33 PM] Aimee/Nera: "Well can you get us back, Ravaphine?"   [11:33 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "I wouldn't flip that switch if I were you. Unless you want to end up in the middle of some rainforest or...dead"   [11:34 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Aye...don't have t' tell me twice..."   [11:35 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak hands the rod to Ravaphine, "might be needin' this, if you really know what's happenin'"   [11:35 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "Those crystals that we saw, this wizard used them for teleportation. I wonder if I can set up coordinates to send us all back home"   [11:35 PM] DM: Investigation, Ravaphine.   [11:36 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "...Is that thing what blew up?"   [11:36 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: ((22))   [11:36 PM] DM: You notice a seam in the rod where the two ends can screw apart.   [11:37 PM] DM: It's still whole. You can open it.   [11:37 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine carefully twists open the rod   [11:37 PM] DM: There's a small, clouded blue crystal inside that looks like it's seen better days.   [11:38 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Looks t' me like it needs a change a' batteries"   [11:39 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "Will somebody help me find any writing about blue crystals in these books? We need to find more"   [11:40 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: "IF one must." Seirixori helps   [11:40 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak goes to comb through the books   [11:40 PM] DM: Perception or Investigation, whichever's better.   [11:40 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine goes to the bookshelf and tries to find notes about the blue crystals   [11:40 PM] DM: The books mentioned the crystals.   [11:40 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: ((16))   [11:40 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: ((11))   [11:40 PM] Aimee/Nera: Nera also looks through the books   [11:41 PM] DM: Seirixori spots a small wooden box tucked between some of the books.   [11:41 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "They won't blow up on us will they?"   [11:41 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "I can't promise that, but we just need to find more crystals"   [11:41 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: Seirixori picks up the box and opens it.   [11:41 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: ((23))   [11:41 PM] Aimee/Nera: ((16))   [11:41 PM] DM: You find two brightly colored blue, translucent crystals.   [11:41 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: Brimeia grimaces as she picks up a book from a shelf   [11:41 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: ((19))   [11:42 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: "I believe this is what we wanted, yes?" She holds out the open box   [11:42 PM] DM: The rest of you can see bits and pieces here and there that look vaguely like they make sense, a clockwork item here, a recharging rod there, but all of them have been tampered with or twisted. They have added bits and pieces on them like they were part of an experiment that probably failed if it was ever completed. You can’t really decipher a meaning to any of these additions. They almost seem random.   [11:43 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine furiously thumbs through the notes to see if the gnome has a written solution about what caused the previous explosions   [11:44 PM] DM: Each one is different, each time "fixed" by something new.   [11:44 PM] DM: This is the first time the entire contraption blew up.   [11:45 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Those look to be the same kind of crystals that rod used up. What say you, Ravaphine? Switch 'em out and start this contraption"   [11:45 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Ain't like we've much else to try"   [11:45 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: "Would that be wise? It did start this fire, and this gnome is dead."   [11:46 PM] Aimee/Nera: "But if this contraption is what brought us here, maybe it can get us back"   [11:46 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "I'd rather not die in a magical explosion. Regular ones are fine though."   [11:47 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Hand the thing to me and I'll show you how an orc confronts problems"   [11:47 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: Urrak extends a hand   [11:47 PM] Felicia - Seirixori: "By destroying things?"   [11:47 PM] Aimee/Nera: "I wouldn't trust an orc to take out the trash, let alone with my life"   [11:47 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "I'd rather us be safe than sorry"   [11:48 PM] DM: For what it's worth, it was what was on the base that exploded, some sort of archway is singed into the wall. The rod looks whole and unharmed.   [11:49 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "Either we stand around in a blown out basement lab of a mad gnome, or we get outta here. Magic or no."   [11:50 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "I for one, would rather not be around a corpse for much longer"   [11:51 PM] Kyris - Brimeia: "Fair enough."   [11:51 PM] Aimee/Nera: "Ravaphine, just fix the thing and push the button, will ya?"   [11:51 PM] Wingy - Urrak D'Akshi: "For once I agree with the Halfling"   [11:52 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "I think the base is what he was using to teleport? the rod is the trigger" Ravaphine tries to find any rhyme or reason of how to input the coordinates   [11:53 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: Ravaphine replaces the diamond on the rod   [11:53 PM] DM: The book mentions using the hollow end to input coordinates, but he wasn't very clear.   [11:53 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: "okay everyone, on the platform"   [11:53 PM] DM: The platform's not big enough to stand on.   [11:53 PM] DM: Did you put it back together?   [11:54 PM] Jaymes - Ravaphine: I cast mending to put it back together   [11:54 PM] DM: lol You can just screw it back together.   [11:54 PM] DM: When you replace the crystal and screw the rod back together, you hear a loud gasp. “Who in the nine Hells are you?”   [11:54 PM] DM: And there we can end.
