Harpy's Reach
Harpy's Reach is a unique location in Gehenna as it formed largely as a result of an increasing population of one species whose culture evolved differently over the centuries compared to others. Since a Harpy can only ever be female, settlements with high populations of harpies soon became matriarchal and soon enough communities began to form around these female ruled clans. Other demons of differing species that were once a part of their communities, over time, departed and made roots in other territories.
These matriarchal mini-societies soon became an issue for the wider population of Gehenna. Seeing tensions rise and wanting to avoid any conflict, King Lucan gave them a small mountainous region just south of Pandemonium. It enabled all harpies to thrive in a region previously inhospitable to demons without the gift of flight.
With only a handful of decades in their new territory, five clans emerged in Harpy's Reach. The owl, hawk, eagle, crane and falcon clans. Each clan claimed one of the impressively tall limestone mountains in their territory as their home and named them accordingly (Eagle Peak, Falcon Peak, Crane Peak, Owl Peak & Hawk Peak), with many of their clan settling in mountains in close proximity. At the centre of all these mountains, a city grew for mated and foreign inhabitants to live beside a freshwater lake.
Harpy's Reach is ruled over by a singular harpy whose title is a Matriarch.
Geography
Harpy's Reach is a large, lush section of mountainous land northeast of the Citadel. Officially it lies inside the territory of the Citadel's bounds, but most consider it it's own land. It mainly consists of heavily forested limestone mountains, but there is a large lake in a valley to the north.
