Citadel Keep
Purpose / Function
The Citadel Keep is the seat of power in Gehenna. It's the home of the royal family and the commanders of the legion, so symbolically any would-be king-killers vying for the throne attack the keep in the hopes of taking it over.
Alterations
The Keep began it's life as a threadbare base of operations at the base of the mountain the Citadel now sits on. Lucan and his five companions (Adran, Mekaziel, Sithral, Davros and Grigori) built it's initial structure with their own bare hands over the course of three years.
As the population boomed, so did the need for a larger more tactical castle. Using paid workers, Lucan directed the construction of the new Keep at the peak of the mountain. Over many decades, the Keep was added to as more commanders joined Gehenna's leadership until finally in 4650 IR, Lucan declared the Keep finished and only modernisation improvements have been made since.
Architecture
The entirety of the castle is made from stone and wood from the Twisted Forest.
Defenses
The outer keep wall is several metres thick with only a few heavily defended entrances. Manned towers surround the keep. There is one main gate and several secret entry/exit points known only to those who reside within.
