"Countless entities. All created with some obscured goal that has been long-since lost to the sands of time. All we know is that they are in a sort of stasis in the furthest reaches of the universe and awaken at seemingly-random times, taking over a mortal body and executing some grandiose mission before either returning to stasis or destroying their borrowed body before vanishing back to where they once came from... Initially created as the first Minor Deities by The Lost Gods & Goddesses to assist in the creation of the universe, the Arcanists were originally given far too much power and introduced things like "Blackholes", "Entropy", "Supernovas", and "The expansion of space & time". Not even The Lost Gods & Goddesses could have predicted what they would create next, so they tore the Arcanists' consciousnesses from their bodies and store them away in a sort of cosmological stasis. Eventually The Nine Divines were created to help with tidying up the mess that had been created, though they lacked the power to accomplish certain tasks. So they pleaded with Lost Gods & Goddesses for more power and, after some aeons of negotiating, were allowed to use the Arcanists to accomplish the tasks that they, The Nine Divines, could not. This compromise wasn't without hesitation or forethought, however, as it was deemed necessary to give the Arcanists a mortal body; that way if they used too much of their power it would rend the Arcanist before it could do any actual damage to the state of the universe. It was also decided that once the Arcanist died or completed the task they were borrowed for, their mortal vessel would be destroyed and sent back into stasis.
Through a tricky wording in the original agreement between The Lost Gods & Goddesses and The Nine Divines , it didn't state that an Arcanist had to have a new mortal body... Just a mortal body. This meant that any Deity that needed a task done immediately was able to hijack a random mortal's body and replace their consciousness with that of an Arcanist. Resulting in various accounts over the aeons of people disappearing, losing all memory, and/or gaining incredible power seemingly at-random.
One cannot comprehend the power that an Arcanist contains within them. They have the power to create, destroy, warp, and organize space, time, and celestial bodies. Although their mortal vessels can barely withstand a fraction of a percentage of their original power, the weakest Arcanist can take out entire nations' worth of mages single-handedly.
It isn't common enough for it to be noticed by common folk, or even most nobles, but those who pick up on an Arcanist's presence understand how much of a harbinger of change and chaos they can truly be.
Although they are a playable class in The World of Idoria TTRPG, they are incredibly rare. As previously stated, they are only awoken once every millennia or so, and often times aren't even on Idoria, itself, as most of the Deities do use them for their intended purpose (i.e: aligning a planet in its star's habitable zone, shifting comets and asteroids around to give a planet awe and horror, creating a moon or two for the allowance of record keeping, etc...).

Starter Spells
These are the spells an Arcanist starts out with at level 1. While they are quite basic, they serve as the foundation for their growth of power. -
Foci
A Focus is an ability/group of abilities that only the class they're meant for can use. If you wish to obtain a Focus from your starting class, all you must do is level up and spend a level to unlock one of the top-most Foci in your class.
