Tzunar

The largest island in all of the known world, and by a large margin at that, Tzunar is almost a small continent, home to a number of biological habitats and different nations, and surrounded by many smaller islands of importance. Far away from a larger mainland, and with resources nearby, most of the nations of Tzunar have well developed navies to project power and defend their borders, especially with regards to smaller and resource rich islands. Wars are frequent between many smaller nations, though the largest powerhouses tend to have the largest wars by far, both on land and at sea.

Geography

The southernmost peninsula of Tzunar is the coldest region, closest to the South Pole. Here, the terrain is damp and cool, with many mountains being present here as well. The Scandinavian climate makes conditions quite hostile to peoples, and so the nations here have often warred among one another before the Southern Alliance was formed. Conifers and evergreens are often present, particularly in the southernmost lands of Vunk. Unlike other regions, the mountains of this land do not offer even large mineral deposits of precious metals, further adding to the harshness here.   Further north, the climate gives way to a mix of temperate forest and open woodland, ideal for the hilly lands of Altyn or the fertile farmlands of Evergnon. In the east, this gives way to the moderate but dry plains of The Jazyart Confederation, while in the west, seperated by rivers, hills and canyons lie arid and dry scrubs of Mekonia, a hardy frontier people of centaurs, and further to the west coast are the rich and thriving lands around the rivers Ol and Phoz, home to Phurzia, the heartland of The Phurzic Dominion. Strawberries are replaced with olives and apples with citrus, as the climate eventually gives way to the higher mountains of the centre, seperating the warm and semi-tropical forests and valleys of Vulgar in the east and the harsh desert of Sandstone in the west, shielded from the warm wet currents. The northern coast of Tzunar is free from mountains, and therefore on both sides is lush and covered in palms, resembling the more fertile parts of Earth's Middle East or Deep South. In fact, to the north, the so called 'Northern Kingdom' is a mix of jungles and rich beaches, where the nations of Tzunar fish for exotic fur coats and fruits not found in the cooler and drier south.   At the northern coast, beyond even the Sandstone desert lies the somewhat less arid north-west, under the sole control of The Phurzic Dominion, whose oases often feed the settlements where compared to the dry interior.
