Phurzia

The core territory of the Dominion, Phurzia is run from the capital of Phoz to be a flourishing centre of perhaps the second most powerful state in the known world, following the Empire of the Silver Sun.

Geography

One of the defining traits of the homeland of Phurzia is the large river Ol and it’s tributary the Phi, both of whicu run through the region, making it fertile and prosperous, with predictable flood patterns. It is this pattern that made the Olmese set up their own capital further up the river Ol. Over a millennium ago, Forkton was established at the fork between the tributary and the main river by the recently settled Phurzic people as a trading town and base for their smaller state, and when Olm collapsed and was sacked, Forkton rose over the other Phurzic towns and cities to the forefront, forming the basis for Phoz. As the years went by and the Isles recovered, the core territory of the Dominion expanded south, with the establishment of the fortress city of Umbroke, eastern Slithia, with its mighty grapevines and north with the cities of Saedia and Kreknolisk, with their timber and pelts of the forests. Or the seaport city of Voshia, whispered to be the most dangerous city in the Dominion!

Fauna & Flora

Alongside the typical fauna of aurochs, wild boar, bears and wolves, the largest herbivores in the region are shoveltooths near the waters and murks around the grasslands. These large herbivorous scythebeasts are the only vegetarians of their kind native to the Forbidden Isles, possessing a scythe-like claw on each arm, said to be capable of decapitating a man in a single swing. Along this, they possess a large beak for plucking up the grasses, and molars to grind. This grants them a superficial resemblance to the flying griffins in a sense. With long muscular tails and padded feet like camels, murks don’t quite look like any of the mammal herbivores of the islands, and yet appear just as natural as any of them. They live in small herds led by a single male, who tends to be nearly twice the size of the females. A fully grown bull stands three metres tall overall, two and a half at the withers, and can weigh us much as two and a half tonnes, while females rarely surpass two at the withers, while also lacking the spur on the end of the beak and having a duller, less red colouring in their fur. These features, along with their territorial nature, makes them a target for hunters as trophies, or for more practical usage.   While found across Tzunar, the greener parts of Phurzia price some of the most well suited terrain and food for the animals. It is for this reason that the Dominion is the only nation where they serve as a core division of the army, and not merely as elite units ridden by generals and aristocrats as in other nations. It is estimated that as many as one murk-rider for every thirty horse-riders exists within the Dominion’s army, going up to one; twenty in times of plenty. Typically serving as cataphracts, or heavily armoured cavalry, murk riders are some of the most iconic of the Dominion’s units in the battlefield.

Natural Resources

In terms of natural resources, Phurzia is quite abundant. The Slithia lands in eastern Phurzia are home to large fields of grapes, olives, tomatoes, wine distilleries, figs and other essential foodstuffs for feeding the other cities, while also having rare but strong rainfall to feed these.   Further south, the cooler and wetter environment enables more forests to grow, where wood and timber can easily be accessed, along with more temperate food-stuffs in the forests. Some of the Dominion’s finest pork comes from these forests, as wild boar are as abundant as rats in those forests.
