Rastamust
The Riktus Vanquisher
Ratamust's Balter Career
An interesting fact, which few people know, is that Rastamust's shoulder horns are fake. It seems ridiculous that a beast with Rastamust's formidable appearance needs to be even more intimating, but then he wears daisies up his arse and a tie, so there is that! His impressive size and birth-scarred face marked him out from an early age to become a warrior to fight in the Tremena. The Riktus Queen Alpha Ashaborn spoke to his parents and took him under her wing as she sent him into brutal training with her best guards. He hated hurting his fellow colleagues, but he had a talent and physical prowess that would have shamed his parents if he quit. These external pressures compelled him to enter the Riktus Balt league and despite a couple of no contests (where he refused to finish his fallen opponent), he went on to win the Giantweight horn in 827. He was demanded to leave the Stexus mountains and enter the All Race League whose headquarters were in Imperias City. It was here he began the next stage of his balter career as an undefeated Riktus champion and a future certainty to win the ARL belt. Giantweight Imperials and Fein balters went on a rigorous regime to lose weight and be classified in the lower heavyweight category, for none wanted to fight this new monster alleged to be the next Dreadnaught. The Brutality of a Flower:
When Rastamust first burst into the arena, people couldn't understand what they were looking at. A beast of monstrous proportions with a ferocious-looking mouthguard and chains wrapped around his forearms yet wearing an elegant white tie and yellow flower attached to his arse - What was this absurd creature the Riktus had unleashed upon them?
Unfortunately, the pressure of expectation and his reticence to hurt other beings led to a disastrous spell in the tremena as losses mounted up.
Rastamust was an unusual paradox - a warrior balter who would fight with a tenacity, brutality, and fury none could match but only against those near his own physical dimensions. When facing someone smaller, he refused to hurt them, preferring to fight them as an athlete and consequently lose in humiliating fashion - five tremors to zero.
Popularity:
At first, people didn't know how to take Rastamust in his early arena exploits as he shifted from a brutal warrior killer to a semi-agile athlete as he rolled around the floor and dived to intercept balt shots. Adopting moves previous Riktus warriors were too proud to do. Seeing this hulking beast jumping all over the place and accepting defeat rather than crushing his smaller foes endeared him to many fans. He was also known to engage in fun banter with the fans, often teasing them with who they thought would win during a contest.
The ramifications of his enigmatic act meant he made no friends during his time as a balter: His fellow Riktus became infuriated he would throw away such easy victories while the Imperials and Fein were too scared by his freakish appearance to engage in conversation.
Balter fans had no such issues and found Rastamust to be one of the most forthcoming balters in giving interviews, signing shirts and teasing children with mock scary roars—a gentle beast in the most accurate word.
Mixed Reaction:
Hearing news of his forced retirement was the happiest day of Rastamust's life, and within seconds of hearing his Queen's ultimatum, he had already handed his resignation to the ARL Authorities. The news was met with widespread joy amongst the Riktus balters who would never need to face his full might in the arena again. However, all other balters cried at the thought of now facing the new breed of Riktus brutalisers without Rastamust's help softening them up.Rastamust Today:
Despite Rastamust throwing away dozens of guaranteed victories, he still ended his career with a win ratio greater than 50%, which, considering the savage balters he had defeated in his career, represented a fantastic achievement. He was in high demand as a Balter coach but wanted nothing more to do with Battle Balt. That part of his life was over, and he set about on his new career adventure as an artist and poet. Due to his violent background and barbaric appearance, nobody took his work seriously. Then Ricardo Butler came across his painting in the street and was amazed at the intricate art the massive-handed warrior could produce. They struck up a friendship, allowing Butler to introduce the Riktus giant to Claytus Tome, who was shocked at Rastamust's stunning artistic creations. Claytus employed Rastamust's services on his new project as the artist for the Lendorian Encyclopaedia - the very book you are reading now. His dextrous hands created every portrait you see. Artwork for balters before his time, like Soul Stealer and Intisar, he created using Lifter books loaned to him by Tome. This allowed him to experience the moments as they happened and create realistic artistic representations of the events he saw. We hope you enjoy them. The Riktus Vanquisher's Record
