Amaranthine Sepulchre

The Amaranthine Sepulchre is the holiest site in the Mashiq for the Kōsites and the center of worship in Jeharoa for the Qartagonian people. It is believed to be where the Coiled Hermit Kōs witnessed the first visions of the Faal Stahdim Ven in mortal form. Kōs entered the Sepulchre when it was still an ancient Ashkelonian tomb and received divine visions which would later parlay to his most trusted followers, the Qosaari. Today, it is the site of much tension between the ruling Pilgrims from Auloa and the local followers of Kōs, many of whom had relatives slaughtered or displayed during the Siege of Jeharoa in 311 SE.

Purpose / Function

The Amaranthine Sepulchre serves several functions for the Kōsites of Jeharoa. It's Sahn is a meeting place for religious study and business transactions. It's Abadon is a kind of religious hospital, catering to ailments both of the body and spirit through cleansing rituals and prayer. It's Prayer Halls are where local parishioners gather to worship the Coiled Hermit each Stranger's Day and feast day. It's most prominent feature the Mihrab, where the actual Amaranthine Sepulchre is located. The Mihrab is the temple's actual pilgrimage site and is said to have once been a tomb where the god Kōs received the first visions that he would pass on to the Qosaari as the Faal Stahdim Ven.   The Amaranthine Sepulchre is run by Kōsite priests called the Wardens. They are not an official order and are somewhat secretive. They are led by the red dragonborn priestess Roshan el-Nossa. Pilgrims believe they are somehow helping the Qartagonians with their campaign but Roshan does not dignify such accusations with rebuttal. She is far more concerned with maintaining the good will of her order within the city, helping her fellow Kōsites, and continuing to hide the location of the Heart Hearth from the city’s officials.
