Auloa

Auloa is the name of the southern-most continent on the planet Holos in the Material Plane. located in the southern hemisphere of the planet and is composed of three islands. The largest—Férulad—is considered to be the primary landmass of the continent. The other two, Érulad and Mérulad, are considerably smaller and lie off the east coast of Férulad. Érulad is the smallest of the three and home to a single culture that goes by the same name. Mérulad currently is comprised of two distinct cultures and lies to the south of the Érulad. The whole of the continent divided into nine distinct cultural regions.

Geography

Érulad

Called the "Evergreen Isle", Érulad is comprised mostly of temperate forests, grasslands, and rolling hills of wheat and barley. There are few highlands and no mountains on the island. Marshes and bogs make up the low valleys between hills. Its location along the coast means that it receives a steady stream of coastal rains which water the lush island.

Mérulad

The island of Mérulad is dominated by a maritime climate with narrow temperature differences between seasons, making it ideal for agriculture. The south of the islands is far more rugged, with great moors and highlands cutting off the north from much of the south's more mild weather. The north, called Maddrell, houses cold water lakes, small glaciers, and deep forests of pine. The south, by contrast is filled with hills and broad-leafed forests, great fields of heath and verdant pastures.

Férulad

Being the largest of the three landmasses, Férulad also has the largest variety of landscapes and geographies. The center of the continent is a great mountain range, called the Basceron. To the south of this range, the regions of Czeršia, Reikerk, Varangia, and Lower Faleret endure cold summers and pleasant winters. North of the range lie the realms of Placidia, Savia, and Upper Faleret, with mild summers and sunny winters. Much of Férulad was once dominated by massive forests so thick going only a few kilometers before becoming lost. Over the centuries, these forests have been cleared by mortals to build cities and create farmland and pastures. A few unique biomes such as the Varangian Peninsula's far tundra and Savia's scorching canyons exist in isolation between these great swathes of timber and wheat.
