Reptilids Species in Helaeron | World Anvil

Reptilids

Alien and cruel. The Reptilids are a race of reptile like, bipedal beings with manifold features and an entirely carnivorous diet.
One of the later species of beings to be born by the dark wills of The Strangers some time during the early days of The Third Aeon. They have since formed fringe dominions on the fringes of the Known World.
First originating from the far eastern jungles of the continent of Oerakan. The Reptilids developed into The Reptilid Empire, with its own hierarchy and legal system. Viewing all other beings as food, they would eventually learn Death Magic from their creators. Beginning the more evil pursuit of immortality. Eventually, they began to pursue feeding grounds in the west. Where they would feed on Akiiri Men until their Kings parlayed with them, having heard survivor stories of magics that bestowed immortality at the price of the life of another. The Reptilids would eventually cross The Shattered Sea to dwell in the southern lands of Aederos.

When The Ellician Empire had expanded into the continent of Oerakan, it crushed The Akiiri Empire, then contended with The Reptilid Empire further east. A long and taxing war ensued for the sake of the Xinai Men whom the Reptilids had enslaved, brutalized, and devoured. The conflict would last for thirteen years, and be known to history as The Reptilid War. Ending in the decimation of the Reptilid Empire, and the bartered integration and annexation of the Xinai Men of The Dominion of Xi.
The Reptilids would retreat to the fringes of the known world. Preying upon unwary travelers, eager explorers, and wandering children alike. Having long ago abandoned the tolerance of animal meat. For the intoxicating taste of the flesh of Mankind. Possibly even breeding them as slaves in their hidden outposts and hideaways. From which they continue to haunt the nightmares of Mankind.
