Kigura Mountains

The Kigura mountains are a massive mountain range at the heart of Garadel. They are the cradle of Garadek civilization, the cradle and the center of the continent's history. It was in these mountains that prism mining towns became the first cities of the continent, and it was these mountains that Halcyon blessed with the Dragon Forges - the only consistent way to produce magic items in this world.   The Kiguras are rich with gems, ores, salts, and precious metals, but they are also a risky place to be at times. They are still volcanic, and during times of tectonic turmoil they are an extremely dangerous place to be. Some of the taller and more rugged sections of mountain are extremely difficult to traverse, and have gone basically unclaimed by large state apparatuses. This isn't to say that these vast peaks are unsettled - they are full of human villages and Prism towns which trade with one another, and plenty of prospectors and explorers venture through here looking for yet-undiscovered Dragon Forges or mineral deposits.   The Kiguras, being a continent-wide range, are a varied mountain range with numerous sub-regions. These include:
  • The Titan's Range, the Westernmost Kiguran mountains, full of Fire Termites and Dragomanders. A group of massive volcanos, known as The Burning Titans or just The Titans sits at the heart of this range. The communities here have a fierce sense of independence and the only cross-regional institution is a warrior-lodge system known as The Blood of Karn.
  • East of the Titan's Range is the Sage's Pass, where the mountains get a little smaller and the passes become safer. At the center of this is The Sages' Labyrinth , a mystical landmark made by the Architects.
  • East of the Sages' Pass is the Worldwall Peaks - a massive range of volcanically active mountains with incredibly variations in elevation that make travel incredibly difficult.
  • East of the Worldwall Peaks are the Godforge Mountains. These are the heartlands of Garadel; easier to travel than the Worldwalls (really just barely at parts, but still), rich with wealth, volcanically active, and saturated with Dragonforges.
  • South of the Godforge Mountains are the Icefangs, some very cold very tall mountains with a couple of really impressive peaks.
  • West of the Icefangs are the Scales of Mirizi, a smaller range of pink-hued mountains that protect Southwestern Garadel from the icy Antarctic winds.
  • And Southernmost of all are the Frosthold Mountains - cold, blue-grey mountains battered by Antarctic winds and full of now-dead volcanos. Full of prosperous independent Prism-holds that are known for their isolationism.

Geography

The Kiguras are 1600 miles long and reach heights above 20,000 feet above sea level regularly in its taller sections.

Fauna & Flora

Dragomanders are plentiful here, more than anywhere else in the world save Ekraht  Llamas and their wild counterparts (the guanaco and the vicuna) are common sights here and seem to be native to these mountains originally. Rhea birds (large bipedal ostrich-like birds), condors, and geese flourish here. Bears, boars, cougars, goats, tapirs, ibex, marmots, chinchillas, and Guinea pigs are all parts of the Kiguran ecosystem.
