First Kivish Scouring
The First Kivish Scouring was an ancient apocalyptic series of wars that lasted about a century. This century of sustained violence was led by Verkohn the Honest, the founding war-prophet of the Kivishta religion and Empire of Kizen. Back in Verkohn's day, this force was known as the Kivish Horde, a group of Kobold warriors armed with nigh-unstoppable Ederstone weaponry. The Horde, under Verkohn's maniacal leadership, destroyed countless kingdoms and cultures and enslaved much of Northern Stildane. The First Scouring is that armed march Southwards, enslaving and conquering to feed the war machine.
The First Scouring was only stopped through relentless resistance and attrition. Countless heroes stood before the Horde and slowed down their advances, creating disruptions and distractions that undermined the Horde's cohesion. After Verkohn's old age led to him retiring from the field after the brutal razing of Old Geinsteinn in 520 ME, political resistance within the Horde began to tear it apart. Even after Verkohn's death, the army held itself together but was divided and lacked clear direction. In 565 ME, the Kivish were defeated by the Clans of Hain and began spinning entirely out of control. A second defeat by the Hainish alliance in 574 further contributed to the Horde losing all inertia. By 610, the First Scouring was officially over by every metric - the Horde had stopped expanding completely.
The First Scouring did not end the violence; it immediately led to the Second Scouring, which was a period of intense violence between Kivish warlords against rebels, peripheral tribe, and each other.
