Senior Special Agent Alex Adrian Carter (a.k.a. Carter)
"And now it begins"Alex Adrian Carter was a Senior Special Agent in the employ of Prospero. Highly skilled, endlessly proficient, and expertly trained, he served alongside Cody Davis as bodyguard to The Custodian. He continued to serve as his bodyguard even during the Advent of the Myths, and would eventually give his life in defence of The Custodian.
Biography
Background
Alex Carter was employed by the CIA in 1968, at the age of 18. He quickly proved himself to be capable, and by 1985, had over 150 successful missions on his record, most of which regarded to be nearly impossible. Many of these missions were performed alongside his partner Cody Davis. His mission record, combined with his quick thinking, demeanour, and combat skill made him one of the CIA's best Agents of the time, if not one of the best ever. At some point between 1968 and 1985, Carter met and befriended Johnathon Price, who would later become known as The Custodian.Transfer to Prospero
In 1985, Carter, along with Davis transferred to Prospero at the personal behest of The Custodian. He sent them out as a team, aiming to use their skills to accomplish a multitude of nigh-on impossible recovery missions. In particular, he had them search for objects with suspected healing properties, however they were never successful in retrieving any objects of that kind. In 1994, The Custodian planned for both Carter and Davis taking part in Operation: INCLEMENT STRIKE, which involved the seizing of an object with confirmed healing properties from a rival organisation. However, the plan did not account for the untimely intervention of agent Katie Downes, who, after learning of The Custodian's corruption, went to confront him in his office. She attempted to assassinate him, but Carter was faster on the draw, and was able to execute her with a bullet to the head before she could do The Custodian any harm. Following Downes' assassination attempt, The Custodian feared greatly for his life, as Downes was well liked and could have shared what she knew with potentially anyone. As such, he reassigned Carter and Davis going forwards as his personal bodyguards, withdrawing them from all field operations. With them out of the picture, INCLEMENT STRIKE fell to agents Sarah Williams and Jack Hunter, a decision which The Custodian would later regret.Advent of the Myths
During the Advent of the Myths, Carter continued to serve as a bodyguard to The Custodian. He encountered agent Carl Johnson numerous times as the latter visited The Custodian's office for briefings. The two greeted each other with a level of respect, particularly on CJ's side as he knew of Carter's record.The Plot Thickens
Carter escorted The Custodian to the meeting at the Fallen Tree Warehouse. He stood guard along with Davis as The Custodian did his dealings, keeping an eye out for any potential threats that could harm anyone present.Attack on Prospero H.Q.
When CJ learned of The Custodian's malicious dealings, he returned to Prospero H.Q. to confront him. Unfortunately for him, The Custodian was well aware of his intentions, and thus Carter, Davis, and many other agents were waiting for him and anyone else aiding him, such as Sarah Williams. CJ and Sarah were able to make it to the top floor and get within range of the H.Q., though by doing so they moved right into the cross-hairs of Carter and Davis. The Custodian, however, ordered them to stand down so that he could talk with CJ. The talks were less than amenable, and during the entire confrontation both Sarah, and Carter and Davis, were more than eager to raise their weapons and continue the fighting. However, the arrival of another batch of agents loyal to The Custodian forced CJ and Sarah to respond, creating a window for The Custodian to escape, albeit with Sarah firing at them. The Custodian ordered not only for them to accompany him to the roof, but also to return suppressive fire only at CJ and Sarah, even though they could have likely killed them if ordered to shoot to kill. Carter and Davis complied, and escaped with The Custodian using a helicopter on the roof.Showdown at Satellite Site Omega & Death
After the retreat, Carter arrived at Satellite Site Omega along with The Custodian and Davis. He kept guard whilst The Custodian dismissed all medical staff from the facility in anticipation of an imminent attack, and protected him whilst he went to check on his terminally ill daughter, Kylie Price. CJ and Sarah later arrived as The Custodian anticipated, and so he sent both Carter and Davis to confront them. Though he did not want CJ and Sarah harmed earlier, he was prepared to accept that eventuality now that his back was against the wall. As such, Carter and Davis were given very clear orders to stop CJ and Sarah, no matter the cost. When the two groups met, they expressed mutual dismay at what was about to happen, as they all had respect for each other's records. Though neither group wanted to proceed, they realised they had no choice due to the circumstances that had brought them here. In the ensuing battle, Davis was killed first, and then Carter was mortally wounded by CJ. The severity of his injury left him in great pain, and there was no way for medical assistance to arrive in time. Carter knew this himself, and asked CJ to 'end [his suffering]'. CJ initially hesitated, though eventually complied, and finished off Carter with a pistol round to the head.List of Appearances
