Borseti

Once a quaint forest village settled by early European settlers in 1650, Borseti has grown over the years to house some of the worlds greatest hunters and their families. While this colony is formally known by the Provincial Government at Harrington, it has attracted legacy hunters looking for a place to settle and raise their children in safety.   Forest and farm lands surrounding a village of 700 houses, the oldest of which are still standing from the first settlers to the area. There was a housing boom in the late 1950's when a large drive of hunters immigrated from all over the world to join Borseti. Between the years 1946 and 1959 the population nearly tripped from the small town of 200-300 residents to nearly 1,000.

Demographics

72% of the residents are Human, 39% of which are Registered Hunter   24% are Werewolves, part of Courir la Nuit   4% are listed as 'other' species that have immigrated to the colony.

Government

Officially the town us subject to the laws and regulations of the Harrington District of Quebec, however the township has it's own police station, jail and courthouse which essentially leaves them independent of outside investigators.   The entire colony is run by elected Council, Borseti members for five year terms unless a by-election is called by a majority vote from its residents As part of his Council the only non-elected member is the Pack's Alpha as he (or she) has an automatic seat in order to ensure that the concerns of the minority residents are addressed.

Defences

Natural impassable forests, rivers and mountainous lands make up much of Borseti's defences. Over the years they have built up walls between the main section of the township and the outer farm lands and often have patrols of Guarda monitoring day and night.

Industry & Trade

The vast majority of the inhabitants are employed within the colony and town, working within positions that are paid for through larger government means: hospitals, wardens, guarda, firemen, paramedics, all receive funding from the Provincial government as well as local taxes. Others work remotely for world wide companies while some provide non-governed services within the colony: apothecary, weapons, etc. Hunters that do not work are supported through additional taxation placed upon the residents that are not registered hunters and have full time employ.

Infrastructure

Among the the newer technology and infrastructure Borseti as implemented over the decades bringing their township up to code and speed, they still retain their old systems: water mill, blacksmith, grainery etc.

Assets

Borseti is known for their world class blacksmiths and innovative weaponry that rivals even the Men of Letters.

History

Initially, the lands where Borseti grew and developed were once the hunting grounds of Tó díchʼíiʼnii, the Alpha Werewolf's territory. He remained there, from the dawn of man until the first of Adam's children wandered into his lands. He had been hesitant, at first, but soon grew to love them, as they became his children.   In 1650 the first French colonists arrived driving Tó díchʼíiʼnii's people from the lands and claiming them as their own. At first they were farmers, culling the forests to plant their fields. The population increased again in 1872 with the Dominion Lands Act paying new settlers with land. The next large influx of people was in 1950 when European hunters arrived in abundance and the Borseti claimed its final name.   During the "Attack" in 1992 and the subsequent years of recovery following, the population dipped slightly with the unexpected loss of life. Following this event the Pack moved back into their ancient grounds and reestablished life where they ancestors lived.   2005 Borseti found an uneasy partnership. The Men of Letters director contacted the Council at Borseti to make a remarkable request: they wished to build a new North American Chapter House. They hadn't ventured into the America's since they had lost their previous Chapter House. They wished to gain allies over seas in the place where many of their most renowned hunting families had immigrated decades ago.   Germans - 2005 "Nest" - 2017
