Similar to that of a Patriarchy, the pack leader title of Alpha is passed down through blood lines after the previous Alpha has passed or seceded their leadership role. Every new Alpha chooses their Beta; their second in command and their voice for when they aren't around or something happen to them.

History

The very first pack Alpha had been Tó díchʼíiʼnii, the Alpha Werewolf. He lead his pack, with Manitou at his side, for generations before his inevitable death at the hands of the Men of Letters. His successor, his appointed Beta, with Manitou continued to grow and develop the pack into the modern ages with the rest of humanity.
