Personal history
Born, December 17, 1958 to mother Céline Leroux and Réal Côté (Émile kept his mother's maiden name because in Quebec women do not change their last name when married). Céline was the eldest daughter of the previous Pack Alpha and Réal the new Alpha after challenging and defeating the previous. Réal claimed the right to have Céline as his mate, though the pair did not live together traditionally. While the tradition of the Alpha being able to declare Pack Law as barbaric, Réal and Céline came to an agreement: she wouldn’t attempt to claim the role as Alpha, as per her blood right, and she would move out of Pack territory to live among humans, only fulfilling her role to provide offspring for the new Alpha. Réal agreed, it is rumored he only did so because her father had critically injured him and he was not up to the task of defending his new found title. If his mother had any other younger siblings, she never spoke of them and Émile has never met any himself; if they did exist they would have fled after their father lost the Challenge, fearing for their lives.
Émile was raised by his mother in a small town on the outskirts of Montréal until the age of five when his father came to claim him and bring him to the Pack to learn about living like, and being a wolf. The transition to the pack felt natural to him; as though something had been missing his whole life. He knew what he was, and that it needed to be kept a dire secret, but living among the other wolves felt right. Their homes consisted mainly of trailers and other shanty like hastily built structures that were used occasionally, most of the Packs time was spent as a wolf, roaming the woods and hunting.
At the age of 11 Émile was initiated into the pack in the old ways, fighting for his place, Émile found himself against a 14 year old Mutt (born of half human, half wolf parents) who was trying to earn a place as well. Émile succeeded without much effort, his Alpha lineage making him larger and stronger than plenty of even the most mature wolves, his father included. Émile was gifted with his pack name Odina, which means Mountain
At 17 Émile found his first love within the pack and in an unusual place. Marcel Paquet was 21 and had recently joined the pack, passing his initiation. Émile had always known he had attraction to other men, but didn’t know he was gay until he met Marcel. The pair were inseparable; the pack determining that Émile would one day chose Marcel as his Beta once he became Alpha but, unfortunately, Réal caught the pair in the act. The Alpha dragged them out before the pack, the inexcusable act needed to be cleansed from them and the only way this could be done, he felt, was to pit the pair against each other in a challenge. Of course the Alpha knew that Émile would be the victor; there wasn’t a chance that Marcel could over power his son, but to his surprise Émile refused to participate. He would not fight his lover.
As often happens in these situations, Marcel did not stand with Émile. When put under pressure he conceded to the Alpha and admitted that the only reason he had interest in Émile was because he was the future Alpha. Whether or not this was the honest truth, Émile never found out as he was soon banished from the pack.
He returned to his home and to his mother, devastated. He thought his world had ended, that there was nothing left (he’s always been rather dramatic), at least that was until he met Therese: his younger sister by nearly six years. She idolized him, having never met their father, their mother had told her stories of grandeur about the pack, how they lived freely and not working as a waitress in a truck stop cafe. Émile couldn’t bare to correct her, to tell her the truth of their ancient and often barbaric ways. Despite the live style being appealing to him, their rituals and rules had always churned his stomach.
He integrated into human life, found a job doing long haul trucking (which he still does) and a love for motorcycles. He watched his younger sister grow up and fall in love, marry a human and have a baby, Morgan. She became the light of his life, the greatest part of his day was talking to her on the phone as he travelled for work. Even his partner, Georges, adored and spoiled the girl with every whim imaginable.
During just another haul, on his way home, he received a panicked and desperate phone call from their neighbor. Therese had dropped off Morgan to her care in a panic, like something was worrying at her but the neighbour thought nothing of it until she heard gunfire from the house. Before she could even call the police the house was on fire and two men in a truck were fleeing.
Émile returned home to find his family slain; the police unable to work out just what had happened and why his family, of any in their small town, would be attacked, but Émile knew the truth of it. Filled with grief and anger, Émile left Morgan in the care of their neighbor as he spent the next three months tracking down the hunters that killed his family. He spent days keeping them alive out in the woods, torturing the men until finally one of them told him how they were found out.
They had frequented the cafe often while traveling and during their last trip their they had heard Therese and her husband talking about their planned camping trip for the weekend - which happened to be during a full moon event. The hunters stuck around and followed the pair to a cabin where they witnessed Therese change. After that they followed them both home and killed everyone in the house. Neither cared that two of their victims had been human.
When the first of the pair of hunters died, Émile tore out his heard and let his partner watch him eat it before killing the second and eating his heart too.
He returned home, fueled by rage and human hearts, to a child mourning the loss of her family. Émile didn’t know what to do with himself, or Morgan for that matter. Staying in the town was impossible now; surely other hunters would come looking for the pair and easily track them down. There was only one place that they could go that he knew would be safe and neither of them would be accepted back willingly.
Émile set out with Morgan to find the pack and once he did he challenged his father for Alpha. Réal refused, even argued against it, since he ‘could never be a true Alpha, if he couldn’t have his own children’ but the point was moot since he had Morgan, another of their bloodline and the packs future. The pack turned on Réal, forcing the Alpha to the Challenge and of course, losing to Émile. It was after this Challenge and the subsequent withdrawal from human hearts that brought Manitou to his world. Of course the pack prayed to the god and were gifted with his protection but none had ever communed with him in centuries. Manitou purged the pack from their sickness (withdrawal/cravings for human hearts) and helped set them on a new path under Émile’s guidance.
Every decision he made and still makes to this day, he always considers the safety and the future of Morgan and the world that he believes she deserves to live in.

Accomplishments & Achievements
Emile became the Pack Alpha at age 28, the youngest the pack had ever had. He amended previously barbaric and ancient laws within the pack and while this caused some dislike for many of the aging members it brought new hope to those whom had been born into the ranks:
- Abolishing the previously known Naming Ritual and replacing it with the current version
- Eliminating the pack law where gay and lesbian members were sought out and banished
- Allowed non-pack born wolf members to join the pack, thereby extending their influence
Failures & Embarrassments
Emile's greatest failure had been the loss of his close family, his mother, sister and lover, to hunters. While he knew the tragic event could not have been prevented by himself even if he had been home when it happened, the following hunting and killing of those that had harmed his family have weighed on him for decades. He regrets his actions, not only because hunters were simply doing what they thought was for the best, but because it has left a dark stain on his past. The happy memories of his family are tainted with his shame.
