What aspects of the past are revered today in your world setting? Which peoples are remembered? And which are forgotten, and why?

Relics of War (Military)

It was on this day that Batu Ch'luun brought the military might of his forces down upon the the walled city of Ravensgate. This was a particularly bloody battle which he would write years later still weighed heavy upon his heart. However, there are many scholars who feel his ferocity on that day was a turning point in the early days of the war; sending a message to our oppressors that this was not some rag tag rabble lacking the stomach and strength to see the war through to its end.

Well over fifty years ago, the armies of the Kynekin marched East across Northern Gokrenxia. Entire cities of the Myndikin were laid bare. Some were rebuilt, while others still silently stand as little more than a shadow of their former greatness. The remnants of battles, large and small, heroic deeds, and devastating losses lie buried in the blood-soaked lands. The Kynekin hold this time in high regard as it represents their fight for their freedom, identity, and independence.

Relics of Power (Arcane)

That ol' shippin' manifest we found showed a big deliv'ry of supplies them Elves used fer magic'in. The trade route ran from here to here. I'm willin' ta bet there's an old town somewhere up river from this area.

Across the land, Myndikin and Kynekin alike place an incredibly high value on the knowledge of magical traditions. The fundamental understanding and truths of magic stem from ancient Elven writings surrounding their research, experimentation, and findings. Most are jealously guarded by the Elves. Some were captured by the Kynekin (such as the Library at Stoverj). Some were intentionally destroyed to keep them from falling into the hands of their enemies and some were lost in the fires of war that consumed the land. Yet others may still lie in wait, unclaimed in the burnt out ruins of the First Age.

Relics of Thought (Custom/Tradition)

Why, whatever would they do if we were not to provide for them? How would they survive? It just wasn't the lot for which the world drew for them. No, these poor creatures were meant to serve at our tables, not sit at them.
— Elven dinner discussions on the plight of the Kynekin
It is an unfortunate truth that even though a majority of the kingdoms no longer practice slavery, the tradition persists throughout much of the Elven lands. Ethnic superiority is still considered by many Elves to be their natural-born right. To the upper echelons of Elven society, it is still unfathomable to think of the Kynekin as little more than their property to be bought, sold, traded, and treated as they see fit. This is not to say that all masters mistreated their slaves. While they were never seen as equals, there were (and still are) those in slavery who hold prominent positions as trusted assistants within some households.
