Janak is what the Dalrans of eastern Emlas call the governors ruling each quarter (stó) of the empire of Dalra; Eþanstó to the north, Vakúlstó to the east, Nórlastó to the south and Jasústó to the west, respectively. A fifth one might one day be added, depending on how the ongoing Dalro-Imkalan War turns out in the end.
All janaks are dalrans of high status, who are granted the title by the emperor himself and are sometimes closely related to him.

Responsibilities
Janaks are responsible for keeping an eye on the Hajat or representatives of each county within the quarter, receive regular reports about the situation there and in turn send news to the emperor if anything of note happens.
Accoutrements & Equipment
The mark of a janak is a golden diadem, the design of which may vary but is always adorned with yellow and black feathers and encrusted with a single emerald.
