Ella Skytracer was born in the years leading up to The Fracturing War and ascended to greatness despite overwhelming odds. After her mother, Plainsqueen Sadie Skytracer, died under mysterious circumstances in The Skygarde Incident, her frail grandfather Sal attempted to lead once again, though his physical and mental decline only hastened alongside the kingdom's downfall. Sal's death on the battlefield marked the beginning of Ella's rise, as she assumed leadership at the young age of 14 amidst a crumbling kingdom and unrelenting enemies. Mercadia, once the wealthiest realm in Galfin, faced imminent collapse, with its borders overrun by the aggressive forces of Ivoria and the Vul’Adnian Magistrate. However, Ella, with a remarkable will and determination, found a way to persevere against all odds.
She united scattered forces, drew in external resources, and allied herself through a strategic marriage with Darius Curdrake. Together, they revitalized Mercadia’s military and rallied its people. Yet, the turning point of the war came when Ella reached out to the long-isolated aelves, forging a historic alliance that rekindled hope. The aelves’ involvement proved decisive, and together, Mercadia and its allies turned the tide of the war.
Ella's leadership brought an end to Ivoria’s aggression when their Eastking fell, and eventually, the Vuul surrendered after further years of bloodshed. Ella’s diplomatic and military victories culminated in her being declared Highqueen, establishing a new political era for Galfin under the Joint Armistice Lands. Her reign marked the beginning of the Fifth Era, with the unification of the mainland being her crowning achievement.
Ella's reign endured for 70 years, during which she faced further challenges, including the devastating Fogholt Plague. The sickness, suspected to have origins in the magical meddling of the Oakhand family, decimated gaulan populations and cast a dark shadow over Ella’s later years. Her eldest son, Alwin, died mysteriously during a humanitarian effort, and her second son, Renfred, ascended to the throne after her peaceful passing at the age of 87.
Ella’s legacy is one of resilience, diplomacy, and determination. She transformed a fractured land on the verge of ruin into a unified realm under her steady rule, leaving a lasting impact on the history of Galfin.
