Darius Curdrake, known as the Lilac Knight, began as a young noble scion, bound to the expectations of tradition. At just 19, he married Plainsqueen Ella Skytracer to solidify a vital alliance during Mercadia’s darkest days in the Fracturing War. While his marriage was initially political, Darius grew into a steadfast partner, aiding Ella in rebuilding their fractured kingdom. His calm demeanour and strategic mind provided balance to Ella’s fiery resolve, though his contributions were often overshadowed by her legendary feats.
Renowned for his unwavering loyalty, Darius played a key role in revitalizing Mercadia’s cavalry, commanding with precision and earning respect from both allies and enemies. His nickname, the Lilac Knight, arose from his signature violet banners, which became a symbol of hope during the war. Though not the grand tactician his wife was, his presence on the battlefield was one of unity, rallying disheartened troops to stand firm. He was an adept fire mage as well as an expert swordsman and rider.
In the years following the war, Darius withdrew from the spotlight, allowing Ella’s legacy to flourish. As Highking Consort, he focused on fostering ties with noble families and ensuring their sons and daughters remained loyal to the realm. Despite his quieter role, he earned the love of his people for his humility and devotion to the Skytracer lineage. In his later years, he passed on the lessons of perseverance to his sons, Renfred and Alwin, though he grieved deeply when Alwin’s life was cut short during the Fogholt Plague.
