Plainsqueen Sadie Skytracer

Plainsqueen Sadie Skytracer

Born in 4E, 508 (47 BHM) under the watchful eyes of her father, Sal Skytracer, and grandfather, Fredericus, Sadie Skytracer was raised in the shadow of Mercadia’s great legacy. Sadie was always a symbol of continuity for her house, the future Plainsqueen destined to inherit the throne as the royal Skytracer line began to lose its once-mythical longevity. From an early age, she witnessed both the burden and glory of leadership as her father, Sal, ascended to Plainsking in 4E, 516 (39 BHM). Sadie would prove to be a thoughtful and determined leader, but one marked by immense personal tragedy.   Her firstborn, Freyria, was stillborn in 4E, 533 (22 BHM)—a grief that would haunt Sadie even after she took her father’s throne. In 4E, 537 (18 BHM), at 29 years old and pregnant with her second child, Ellary, Sadie took on the mantle of Plainsqueen from her ailing father. She became known for her steady rule during what became known as the Sadian Period.   Sal's health and Sadie spending focus on the health of her premature born baby took her attention from a mass flooding that was occurring in the plains. This heavy rain drowned out the crops and forced the mine dwarves to block their homes, stopping any trade to the capital of Skygarde.   Sadie’s rule came to a sudden and tragic end in 4E, 550 (5 BHM), when she was found dead amongst a congregation of nobles and merchants in the throne room—an infamous event that be known as the Skygarde Incident. Her daughter, Ella, only 12 at the time, discovered her mother’s body along with those of other nobles slain in the mysterious attack. The Vuul marched on Skygarde during this event and held the city for two months before the High Guard and outside allies pushed them out.   This incident shook the foundations of Mercadia, and her father Sal, then 88 years old, was forced to step in as ruler once again despite his frailty. The Vul’Adnian Magistrate and Ivoria saw this moment to fully commit to open war with the weak Plainsking. The Fracturing War began.   Sadie’s legacy is a complicated one, marked by leadership during a time of quiet prosperity but ending in chaos and tragedy. The attack that claimed her life would serve as the catalyst for the Fracturing War, and her daughter, Ella, was thrust into leadership at a dangerously young age. Sadie was a symbol of endurance for her family, but her unexpected death left Mercadia vulnerable to the political schemes and ambitions of rival houses.
