Aelfe

The Great War between the Gaulans and the Aelves was a long and bloody conflict that spanned several centuries.   An event known as the Greed of Gaul was when a single man killed a Lumis Aelfe, the godly ancestor of the Aelves. This death if the seemingly immortal led to the rise of an Onyx Aelfe, a dark opposite of the divine Aelfe.   The root cause of the conflict was the different ancestral genealogies of the two races, with the Gaulans still being mostly migratory, no major cities existed and they have existed in simplicity for millennia, while the Aelves valued their ancient forests and sought to preserve them. When the shadow fell arrived, the Gaul were beginning to take on their eventual expansionist nature they would become known for. When the shadow fell began to conquer, the Aelves agreed to aid them to protect theirs homes from the expansion of Gaul. The shadow beasts that began to appear when the seemingly immortal Lumis Aelves started to die and become reborn as evil opposites. Although they took on monstrous forms, the Aelves understood their divine ancestor was the precursor to these shadow fell. To protect their wild homes, the Aelves agreed to fight for the powerful fell beasts.   The war was marked by many battles and atrocities committed on both sides. The gaulans were hunted for their workforce, slaves taken to dig deep into the earth below for resources and for a greater, divine purpose. The Aelves, with their powerful magic and superior knowledge of the land, were able to assist in the capturing and conquering of the Gaulans settlements, but the gaulans numbers were vast. They attacked the homelands of the Aelves, knowing their soldiers away.   The Aelves, desperate to save their natural homes and save their people, turned to the shadow creatures for help. However, this alliance came at a great cost, as the shadow creatures demanded tribute in the form of human slaves to work in their mines and factories. The Aelves, caught between a rock and a hard place, reluctantly agreed to the terms. Aelves live longer but also have a much longer birth cycle. The Gaul were able replenish their kin is relatively faster time than the Aelves. Although 18 for a fighter seems like a long time, for the Aelves lived much longer and thus that time felt fast.   But eventually, a group of six legendary heroes rose up against the shadow creatures and their Aelfe allies with the assistance of the great smith Dhara and his legendary weapons. These heroes, known as the Great Rebellion of Gaul, fought with great bravery and skill, and after a long and difficult struggle, they managed to defeat the shadow creatures and free their human brethren from bondage. This final battle took place in Snowpeak with the assistance of the northern Gaul. The shadow fell we’re trying to reach something in the far north after they lost control of the mainland. The great holes were caved in as the shadow fell left, each species of Aelfe surrendered before the push north. Now the vast holes in the ground are crystalised black glass hardened and covered by nature.   The Rebellion of Gaul was the turning point of the Great War, and although the conflict would rage on for many more years, it marked the beginning of the end for the shadow creatures and their Aelfe allies. The Aelves, humbled by the defeat of their shadow allies, retreated into their ancient forests and retreated from the world of men.     In this world, the Aelves have a very adaptive biology that allows them to quickly evolve and adapt to new environments. As a result, there are many different sub races of Aelves, each with their own unique traits and characteristics. The sub races of Aelves include:   High Aelves: The most gaul allied and influential sub race in the Gaul cities , they are tall and slender with sharp features and are known for their intelligence and magical abilities.   Wood Aelves: A group of sub races that live in different types of forests and are skilled hunters and archers. They include the Summer, Winter, Spring, and Autumn Wood Aelves.   Fire Aelves: A sub race that is attuned to the element of fire and has a fiery disposition.   Sun Aelves: A sub race that is attuned to the element of the sun and is known for their radiant beauty and grace.   Swamp Aelves: A sub race that lives in swamps and marshes and is known for their hardiness and ability to withstand disease.   Rock Aelves: A sub race that is at home in the mountains and rocky terrain, they are strong and tough with a keen sense of hearing.   Sand Aelves: A sub race that lives in the deserts and is known for their ability to endure harsh conditions and for their expertise with mounted combat.   Mud Aelves: A sub race that lives in the mud flats and estuaries along the coast, they are skilled fishermen and boat builders.   Each sub race of Aelves has unique traits and abilities that have allowed them to adapt and thrive in different environments.     The Aelves of Galfin are a mysterious and elusive race, known for their incredible adaptability and resilience. While being divided into many sub-races, each with their own unique attributes and abilities, the Aelves all share a deep connection to the natural world and the magic that flows through it. Their biology is unlike anything seen in the other races of Galfin, allowing them to rapidly evolve to suit the needs of any new environment they find themselves in.   After centuries of conflict with humans, the Aelves retreated from society and returned to their ancestral homes in the wild and untamed regions of the world. Though they remain largely isolated from other races, those few who have encountered the Aelves have described them as graceful beings possessed of an ethereal beauty that is unmatched by any other race.   Stories and legends of the Aelves have persisted throughout the centuries, passed down from generation to generation. Some tell of their incredible powers over nature, while others speak of their fierce warriors and cunning strategists. And though few outsiders have ever seen them, it is said that the Aelves still watch over the natural world, working to keep it in balance and harmony, and ready to emerge once more should the need arise.         The elves once ruled Galfin until the human slaves rebelled. After the humans fought the ancient elves back from control, the magical race splintered. The different sub-species of elves went their separate ways. The hot tempered fire elves hid away in the Firefang Jags, The swift wood elves took refuge in the Forest of Incantation, the black sun elves sailed to Dynastes, the nymphelves swam deep underseas, the frost elves moved to Snowpeak and the terra elves burrowed into the Underdirt. Now millennia has passed and the elves still remain where the human pushed them to long ago. The elves have gotten used to their new surroundings and no longer want to quarrel with humans. Nowadays the humans seem more scared of the elves, not due to the tyranny they endured millenia ago, but because of the mystery that is the elven race.
