Frilands

The Frilands are a stretch of vales and planes surrounding the six capital islands of Vesper. The name comes from the Mezzi "frifeyzha," meaning "cattle," as these were the lands where the Amarezze Empire's serfs reared their livestock.
Today, the Frilands are home to many of the working class of Vesper. Heavy manufacturing is forbidden on the Vesperian mainland, but many of the scars and poisons predating these laws remain.
The Frilands and the capital peaks are separated, not only be altitude, but by the Poisoned Mists, mountain mists that have mixed with the industrial pollution of Coal Island, creating noxious clouds that hide the two regions from one another. Colloquially, the Frilands are also known as the Shadow Lands, the Lowlands, the Filthlands, and the Shits.
