The Atheran Legion represents the largest single organization within the military of Athera. Although only representing between a quarter and a third of the total military might of Athera, the Legion is the unified standing army of all Cal and Pelliny. Its memebers made up of soldiers from every part of Athera, Pelliny, and a select few from Bleda. During times of peace the Legion patrols and maintains security along the borders of Athera and across her many trade routes. During times of war the Legion is the back bone of the defense of the Council of Kings. A large standing professional body of soldiers ready and able to meet any threat quickly. Each county of Athera holds at least one Legion garrison, but the borders and areas of high trade passage will commonly have larger garrison forces. Although in times of peace this distribution of the Legions is an assest, it does however limit the Legions ability to quickly respond to large and organized threats. As a whole during times of peace, the Atheran interior is one of the safest nations in the world.
Founding
The Atheran Legion was born out of the First Pellenin War, with the conculsion of this conflict the Commander of the combined Atheran forces would organize a large portion of the military of the various Cal into a single united fighting force. He saw this as the next step to Atheran unity, a combined force whos memebers represented each of the Kings who would strive towards greater purpose. While organizing the unification of the Atheran city-states this now Marshal would leverage this force as a means of keeping the peace between the city-states. Knowwing that a second war with Pelliny was bound to come, the Cal would have to stand together to again be victorious. Thus the army of Athera would be organized into two main bodies, the first being this new Legion and the second being the combined forces mustered by each of the Cal. While the armies of the Cal would be less standardized, the Legion would become the standing army of Athera. Making up between a quarter and a third of the total possible fighting force of Athera, the Legion would be the first line of defense for the Council of Kings. Serving both too keep all memeber states in line, and to actively move against external threats. The Legion would be the way which Athera exerted its will on the wider world.

Common Classes Within the Organization
The Atheran Legion is an organization of professional soldiers, as such it is primarily made up of Fighters, and the occasional Paladin. Unlike many of the other factions within the Shattered Seas, the Atheran Legion is made up of professional soldiers and as such most memebers would be considered low level of which ever class they belong too. For the Fighters, most memebers of the Legion are Battlemasters, or Champions. While the Paladins tend to follow the Oaths of Conquest, Devotion, Glory, or Crown. There are many other classes and subclasses that can be found within the numerous ranks of the Legion but these would be the most commonly encountered. Any players which choose to either join the Legion or have it as part of their background would be of these classes if they would be part of the main rank or file. Other classes like Rogue, Barbarian, or Ranger may find themselves used as irregular forces like scouts or skirmishers.
