The Frontier Wardens or Atheran Rangers are the vanguard of Athera. Patroling the forested, or mountainous border regions they travel and live within small bands. Althought not technically apart of the Atheran military, the Rangers fill a unique role acting as scouts and guards of the wilds. Often engaging brigands and outlaws who have sought refuge in the wilds, or tracking bands of raiders who may have crossed into Atheran lands.
The Rangers gained much notoriety after the ranger Kara Sylva and her band saved the few survivors of Captain Hollistin's company from a terrible ambush.
Structure
The Rangers are a very loosely organized group with no central leader. The Frontier Wardens are made up of various clans, which operate one to four bands of rangers. Each band follows a Chieftain which will lead their band as they see fit, patrolling the wilds. These bands are usually less than twenty rangers strong, with fifteen to twenty bands across the whole of Athera and Pelliny.
The Chieftain is chosen by the members of the clan when the prior clan leader steps down. This transition is one of the few occasions where the whole clan will come together, and all the individual bands will hold a "summit". With input from the other bands a new chieftain is selected during a feast.

Common Classes Within the Organization
The Frontier Wardens are made up of the outlanders of society, clans of wandering warriors who spend their lives patroling the wild lands on the edges of Athera and Pelliny. The memebers are highly skilled and those who have reached the level of having a class would be a mix of Barbarians, Rangers, and Rogues. Those who would be called Barbarians follow the paths of the Ancestral Guardian, Berserker, Giant, and Totem Warrior. The Rangers are Beast Masters, Gloomstalkers, Hunter, Monster Slayer, and Swarm Keeper. The Rogues are those Assassins, Inquisitives, Scouts, Swashbucklers, and Thiefs. These Roguish infiltrators are masters of infiltration and help to observe the movements of threats to Athera within the wilds.RTS Design Notes
