Lutum Fera

Lutum Fera is a humanoid species resembling Humans but possess animal traits. These animal traits varies from one Lutum to another, whether they have animal ears, tails, claws or any hidden features like pincers. Some may only have special abilities depending on their subspecies such as echolocation or heat sense.   Despite being Lutum, they still experience physiological functions to their body such as Heat Cycle or Hibernation.

Civilization and Culture

Relationship Ideals

Lutum mates for life, much like their ancestors. Once they have chosen their partners, they will court and marry according to the culture of their ethnicity. In Daruga, they propose to their mates by putting on earrings; one on the left ear and the other right ear.   As they are bound for life, the dominant partner are responsible for their spouse, whether to take care of their sustenance or Heat Cycle. The dominant partner is required to fulfill every needs of their spouse's and protect them from any harm. Should one of them are caught cheating, however, they will have to divorce, or their spouse will have to kill them.

History

The creation of Lutum is the cause of centuries of ostracization and exile to the Feras.   Lutums are created when a Human and a Pure Fera breeds, giving birth to half Fera-half Human hybrid. The Human side weren't prominent when the first generation was born, as they still retain the appearance of Pure Fera. However, this leads to further interspecies relations between the two species, washing down the Fera blood and allowed the Human blood to become dominant.   Dirty, which is what Lutum means when the remainders of Pure Fera named the god-forsaken species before they exiled themselves into hiding. The Lutums, belonging neither to Humans nor Feras, were torn apart to choose which side they favor. Meanwhile, the Lutums were oppressed by the Humans, and forced to conform to their laws despite the Feras being the first to exist on Frantumare.   In the end, the Lutums were divided; some chose to side with their oppressors, fearing death and pain. The rest chose to oppose the Humans, building their own civilizations and armies to one day rise against them. Both Humans and Lutums did come into an agreement for the latter to be addressed as Fera instead of Lutum. Ashamed of the title given by their cowardly ancestors.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

Due to their history of creation, they view interspecies relation between Human and Fera as a disgrace.   However, relations between Fera subspecies are quite common, although they are limited to similar nature of their subspecies such as the hot-blooded, cold-blooded type, feline, canine, serpent and such. Despite that, there had been two different subspecies to have a relationship with each other.   The most well known couple are Alain Darte and Natalya Morozov, which most knew as the rarest feline-serpent couple in Frantumare. While they share a common nature of being predator-type Fera, a feline and serpent couple seems an unlikely pair and hard to believe the duo made it work.    Their relationship spark a new culture of intersubspecies relationship within the Fera community and more couples with similar situation as the two became a common sight.

A very nice article, I do wish there was a list of subspecies or categories of traits that Lutum Fera can get from being a cross-breed. I'm just really curious what subspecies develop which traits.   Also quotes. I'm always a sucker for hearing some in-world quotes regardless of the content of the article. Either way, good article!

Working on the subspecies as I create this article! I'm still working on the types of Fera you could find in Frantumare and later on the cross species. Thank you for your comment! :D

Sadly, they don't belong to me. I've been looking for the owners through Google Image search but none actually lead me to their website. If I can find them or someone could point out, I'd be more than happy to credit them properly!
