A Necessary Rest

Arnsley Dorian was flashed an image of the cael that guards over the beacon by the vician from earlier. He was then taunted by his inability to bring harm upon such a “pure” divine. The Inquisitor was worried if the vician was right.

After the party reassured that they could handle the cael, they then rested themselves up for the coming days.

The Mournival’s First Showing

A spotlight flicks on to an empty stage. From both the curtains and even the audience seating, many figures in black leathers and identical white masks step up to the stage. Probably a dozen bunch up on the stage before someone speaks up, ”Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Mournival. It is always a pleasure to perform to a packed crowd.”

The lights flick off. You can hear a handful of footsteps as footsteps shuffle around the stage and behind the curtains.

Henri

The light flickers on to show Henrietta sitting on a couch across from Clarence Bertram, or at least, what he looks like in the portraits. It begins with Henri pointing at him, “It’s not fair! I was contributing something until the incident!”

The man rolls his eyes, “Unfortunately you have become a danger to the whole of the city. The good news is that you can still contribute. I believe everyone has a purpose. The Labor District is always in need of more hands.”

“I am a scholar! My potential will be wasted down there! No one ever comes back from there!”

“Yes, that’s what a pair of twins told me and showed me progress because they actually know their material. You, on the other hand, are still a learner. I will not allow a feral dog within not just within the academy, but my city!”

The phony Henri stands up, morphing into a hybrid wolf, “Feral dog?! This city is abysmal because of what you have done to it!” Chains then restrain her back before landing a strike.

Mr. Bertram then stands up, pacing left and right of the stage, “Lumencroft is a marvel thanks to me! I am the one who brings it further to perfection with each renovation. Everything plays its part. Every molded clay turned to a brick is another step. Every thread of wire keeps us all connected. Perhaps my next breakthrough should be a cure for unfortunates. But then who would contribute to that great industry? That would be taking away your part…”

The lights flick off and you hear footsteps scatter backstage.

Abbott

When the spotlight flicks on, you see Abbott on stage. Of course, not the Abbott. You can tell because the coat is too perfect. Mist permeates behind his head once he starts to move around. The figure taps a finger on his chin, “Can’t remember, can’t recall. Surely forgetful thoughts are not all?”

The lights flick on to the right, showing a cael beckoning to him, “Pick me! I can heal your broken mind! I am selfless and love to see the thriving of your kind!”

Another spotlight flicks on, showing a vician pointing to the cael, “Nay, his weakening will only cause your condition to be diving until you are truly dying! To claim being of aid is all lying!”

Another spotlight flicks on, showing a misty humanoid appearing beside the phony Abbott, “No, choose me. I can be your key. I foresee you agree that I can guarantee for you to be free.”

There is a brief silent pause before all lights go out. You can hear the footsteps as they all scatter.

Mysrie

Once the lights flicker on, you see a phony Mysrie standing front and center of stage with arms out. You can see scars all over them. From behind is a grey and scaly figure in a red robe looking down with eyes closed.

To the right side of the stage, the lights flick on to show an eladrin family simply pointing at her.

To the left side of the stage, the lights flick on to show other wyrmbloods pointing in silence as well.

Two more lights flick on, showing a cluster of figures in beaked masks and dark robes pointing at her as well.

The person in the back then raises his head and opens those red snake eyes, “The past has so clearly marked itself and yet you cannot recall, or worse, deny it. The proof has scarred itself over you. You can claim your clean hands in the now show innocence but you cannot recall the time they were drenched with blood. Come now, do you think I am disappointed? You were my most obedient pawn, after all.”

The spotlight focuses on the sinister grin of the actor before the lights go out. The actors then shuffle around to the backstage.

Yohgri

The lights flick on to show a phony Yohgri and Karnell standing back to back.

Karnell begins, “I am a firm believer in removing divine influence. Caels and vicians treat us as toys in their pretentious cosmic war. Their removal will mean mortals can decide their own fate.”

Yohgri then speaks up, “I am a firm believer in aiding the dead and dying. The removal of divine influence means they cannot wrongfully meddle with spirits they have no right to.”

The two on stage then turn to face the other.

Karnell tilts his head, “You and I are quite similar… The only difference is that I am no healer. I am a breaker. When I have my way, the mists shall fall and all divines shall fear me. You, being a healer, will only cut yourself trying to heal my fragments.

There is a pause before the lights go out and there are shuffling feat rushing to the backstage.

Clovis

A spotlight flicks on to show a phony Clovis but in shining knight armor and a foot atop a rock, “I am the savior who asks for no favors. With the might of the light, I shall take that creature’s night! To the one who claimed my twin, is the one so full of sin that I vow to have my inevitable win!

The lights flick on to show the infamous Strahd von Zarovich standing to the side, “So bold and brash after I have turned so many into ash. It all makes this rather dark to know I have left my mark. One could remark it is a little stark for this annoying snark.”

Both actors turn to the other. The lights off just before they pounce the other. Screams of Clovis is all that’s heard as there’s a scuffle. Once all goes silent, you hear the footsteps scatter behind the curtain.

End of the Show

The lights flicker on to the directors in those thick cloaks and beaked masks. They bow alongside the actors in black leather and identical masks, “That concludes this showing’s theatrics. The Mournival will happily see you again in due time.”

Clovis and Henri stayed behind, listening to the directors ramble. These directors were curious as to the influence of “writers” over “actors.” Though, why one “writer” has a bigger say over the entire production than everyone else is curious to them. Clovis deduced that they referred to the Nameless Host.

Abbott and Yohgrï discussed the contents of each others scenes.

For Clovis

Clovis snuck away and met up with the vician, seeking to make an arrangement for Abbott and Henri to have a reading. In exchange, Clovis would handle enemies of his within the Cult of Maledict. The vician explained that he is Setesk, a vician from Faunerro banished by Reaving after the Battle of Ridgewater. He would only be of aid if they both could coordinate in fleeing the Mists.
