Harvest Celebrations in Kalgarim

Past the natural rocky gateway takes our visitors into a land down between two mountains. The rivers and streams here intertwine seamlessly through the region to feed into many farms and orchards. The clouds stay parted so that the sun may shine down its warm blessings.

It’s here that many humble folk tend to the fields from sunrise till sundown. Though small in stature they may be, it’s about the heart and harvest that makes up for it. To say love could not be the secret in what they do best is to admit you don’t know the stouts in the slightest. Perhaps, there has to be some truth to what they say.

Why, the cows in the field swing their tails contently, the ponies trot with pep in their step, and the kids play with merry smiles. So maybe to say love is their secret in what they do best is as honest as the work they toil.

Silris Festival

Yes, reader, deep down in Kalgarim towns are festivities to celebrate with friends, families, and community. Now what event could be worth having vast parties about? The harvest? Some uppity celebrity thinking they're high and mighty for doing a one-time noble deed? Could it be because of some elaborate folktale that brought on this inspiration?

Nah, sir, nothing convoluted like that I assure you. Family. Pure and simple. This time of year when the harvest is ready makes it all the more easier to get together with friends and family. Most importantly, to cherish memories and to make new ones. The stout folk need no other excuse to get together.

"But I don't like my family, nor do I have any," I hear you say, "How am I supposed to celebrate?"

Well, dear reader, that's the beautiful thing about a community. It becomes akin to a second family, don't it? With some honest work and a humble mindset, you too, could find a lovely someone to have an even lovelier family. Why, it's here in the Silris Festival do people truly come together.

"Silris? Who's that?" I hear you ask.

For outsiders to Ardentry as a whole, let me tell you about our gracious lady. Silris is a majestic Cael, one of them celestials from Haven who blesses the stouts in particular. Within the Reverie, she encourages community and craftsmanship. Heart and forge, as some put it.

"What is done during these festivities?"

Typically that is up to most families or communities as each have their own traditions. Of course, the one most people look forward to is the big dinner that's had by the end of the night. The head of the community or family gives a gracious speech to recall loving memories and moments then everyone digs in.

But you probably knew that, didn't you? Well, you want to know the interesting activities.

Food Eating Contests. Pretzels are the default food choice for these eating contests but it'll vary from either region or family. Some will down chopped potatoes or take a sour twist by eating the nastiest stuff for the laughs.

Goliath Jousting. This one is done for laughs. One person hops on another's shoulders and tries to knock other "riders" off of their own.

Roden Chase. A popular one among kids. One person holds a stick with an apple dangling by a string. Others get on all fours and chase after the one with the apple. Whoever acquires it first wins.

Singing. A fair bit of singing goes on. Of course, these are hymns typically from the Reverie.
