Public Transport

As in every world, transportation is important to get around. As you walk down the streets of our towns, you may see a lot of people walking, on bikes or electric scooters or such, but there aren't that many cars. This is because above all other ways to get around, public transport is the most popular and convenient one.

Within the cities, buses or trams are the most common ones, subways in T@Ö#Ä3 and Desert, between cities the best way to travel is via train and Fairy Gardens even have an extensive monorail infrastructure. If you wanna travel between coastal towns, you might wanna take a boat instead. You’ve probably seen most of these in your world as well, traveler of the multiverse, so we won’t bore you with too many technical details of them, but here are some quick facts about each anyway:

City Transport

Buses

In pretty much every town of Ä+*4~ you’ll encounter either buses, trams, or subways.. Smaller towns with less traffic usually use buses driven by people. They don’t drive as often, and they don't drive at night either. Whether you need to get to work, school, go have fun in town with friends, or visit a relative on the other side of town, these are the cheapest, but a convenient and fast option, though they may regularly run a bit late, get stuck in traffic, or get affected by any number of mishaps.

Trams

Trams are more popular in bigger and more densely populated towns. They drive more often on a more strict schedule. They are self driving or operated by artificial people, but in most cases both. They are fast and reliable, sure to get you to your fancy important big city job on time. They drive for a bit longer into the evening and morning than buses.

Subways

While trams are still the most common mode of public transport in T@Ö#Ä3, subways are just as important. The complex and extensive infrastructure of underground railways spreads all the way across below the Cities of T@Ö#Ä3. This underground world where all the seedies people are conducting the shadiest of business. The most important spots along these railways aren’t places above ground, but underground settlements, such as Neon Maze in “It’s not polite to bring a gun to a knife fight”.

For obvious reasons, subways are the way to go in Desert as well. There is no above ground transport here. aybe if you have a came or a cow, I don't know, why are you going out there anyway, it's way to hot!
In T@Ö#Ä3, these are operated exclusively by artificial people, but Desert uses real people instead.

Tickets

The above transport uses a standard transport pass. You can get this as a card, or buy it through an application on your phone. You can add any amount of money onto it; this gets deducted form your account each time you enter a bus, tram or a subway and validate your pass. If you use this often/daily, you can get frequent traveler deals.

Between Cities

Trains

If you have to travel somewhere more far away, or to different districts of Ä+*4~ or T@Ö#Ä3, buses, trams, and subways just won’t do. Sure they are fast within towns, but they only drive on short routes, and if you wanna get a bit further away you’d have to change buses and trams several times, eating up your valuable time. And if you’re in T@Ö#Ä3 and not trying to do some shady business, you may wanna stay away from the subway altogether anyway. Here’s where the trains come in. You may see a few different types of trains depending on what part of the world you’re in, and how long the train route is, but your ideal choice will be a magnetic train. They are comfortable and incredibly fast, and will get you from Desert to Fairy Gardens in a matter of a few hours. Seriously, it’ll probably take you more time to get to the train station from your home on a bus, than to a town 100km away on a magnetic train. But, while these are great as long distance trains, there are slower but just as comfortable and convenient options to more nearby places.

Monorail

You won’t see trains very often in Fairy Gardens though - people here have opted for monorails. While in many ways similar to magnetic trains, they are slower and more chill - just like the lifestyle of Fairy Gardens residents. The track running above ground doesn’t disturb the agriculture below, and offers magnificent views of beautiful landscapes as far as your eyes can see. Since towns, settlements and even single farms here are more spread out, monorails are a fast and convenient way to get around between them. As far as transport within the settlements goes, you better have a unicorn or a tractor to even get to the nearest monorail station.

Tickets

The above transport uses intercity pass. Usually, you have to buy one though application on your phone before your trip. There you can enter the details of your trip, like where you get on or off the train and type of a train. You pay according to these details. If you plan on making a same trip more than once, or regularly, you can save the info, or buy more tickets in advance. If you use this often, you can get frequent traveler deals.

On Water

So, you’re very well cover if you wanna travel on land, but considering Ä+*4~ and Fairy Gardens in particular have many coastal towns, you have to be able to conveniently travel between those as well. Sure you could take a bus, tram or train, but if you’re looking for an experience more than just getting from point A to point B, you might wanna try a boat. Sure, these are slower and don’t run on very strict schedules, but as already mentioned, people go on these more for experience. You get on a boat in the morning, have a nice breakfast on board, watch the waves and breathe in the refreshing ocean air until you get to your destination. Here you spend your fun day out, and return for lunch or dinner, when you have another nice meal on the boat, on your way back home.

As with all the other modes of transportation, you have different boats as well. Some are small short distance ones that will take you from point A to B in a matter of minutes, a lot go for longer distances, but a few big ones will sail all around the world, offering not only transport, but a whole vacation.

At a few spots along rivers, boats are available instead of trains. These too are for a more relaxed experience of traveling between towns, and some places offer exclusively tourist rides on short distances. These tourist rides take up to about an hour, and offer snacks and drinks on board. Longer and more expensive ones may also offer a full meal.

Tickets

For boats, you usually pay cash on the spot. If you're planning a tourist trip, you book and pay it in advance, and you'll get your boat pass sent to you via email or another kind of an electronic message.
