Moth fairies
Ah yes, fairies. The benevolent magical creatures sent by Glitter God to serve him, and to serve people. Faith healers, advisors, leaders of our nations, the ones who are always looking out for people and do what’s in the best interest of everyone.
And then there’s moth fairies. The ones corrupted by the darkness of T@Ö#Å3, the ones hiding in the shadows among freaks, the ones who may have the best interests, but are often unpredictable and erratic.
Moth fairies do try their best and do have the best intentions. They have done a lot for all of the freaks, weirdos, wastelanders and all the others forsaken by the normal world, but to connect with them and survive in this land, deprived of a normal sun, there is a price to pay. There is a certain kind of madness plaguing these fairies, the kind of madness that can only be seen in these parts. They are strange, dark, often violent and more prone to making drugs and poisons rather than medicine. They are impulsive and unpredictable, kind and caring one moment, but can turn against you suddenly and for no apparent reason.
It’s stuff like that, why you have to be careful around moth fairies and have ways to protect yourself against them.
How to protect yourself?
You have to understand one thing about moth fairies: they are after all still fairies, which means they are highly sensitive and extremely averse to certain things, especially strong smells. Keeping this in mind, you also have to understand that though they are fairies, they are in many ways opposite of butterfly fairies.
So, while butterfly fairies might be drawn to flowery and fruity smells, moth fairies are extremely averse to those. Not all of them and not to all smells, but keeping something with a strong fruity or flowery scent on you might just save your life one of these days.
And what more convenient way to keep such a thing on you than a small ball made of such fruits, flowers and essential oils.
So, mothballs
Mothballs, as they are called, are made of different kinds of fruits, flowers and essential oils. They come in different scents, sizes and colors. It may or may not matter, but ugly and jarring colors are usually more effective against moth fairies. Surprisingly (or not) they are most commonly made by butterfly fairies. Fellow fairies are all too familiar about how a moth fairy would think, and they are usually the ones with the best access to different plants and herbs and knowledge about them.
Moth balls can be made and sold by fairies in temples and herbal gardens, but can be made by regular mole people and sold in their shops alongside different soaps, perfumes and similar things.
You should be able to find these in many places of East T@Ö#Å3, but also elsewhere in the world. Especially in East T@Ö#Å3 you are well advised to have a few of these with you, in case you run into a moth fairy. They may seem nice, but should they turn violent should incapacitate them for long enough for you to make your escape. You see, throwing one of these at a moth fairy will instantly cause them to panic or make them sick and at least temporarily distract them. It could save your life one day.
