Bat people

Creation of bat people

When the apocalypse happened, people had to do what they could to survive, and retreat wherever they could. Many went underground, but some also escaped into caves where they encountered many cave dwelling creatures, such as bats. They chose those instead of naked mole rats to create a new humanoid species today known as bat people. Similarly to mole people, they are a heavily human based species with some characteristics of other animals. There are a lot fewer bat people though, only two colonies survived to this day - one living in Desert, and one in Wasteland of T@Ö#Ä3. Since there are so few of them, many people aren’t even sure they are real, and the Wasteland bat people specifically like to lead people to believe that they are actually the vampires of ancient legends.

Appearance

Bat people look very similar to ancient humans, and also mole people. They have pale skin and generally dark hair - most commonly black, sometimes dark brown or dark red. Unlike mole people who lost pretty much all of their body hair, bats tend to have more of it.

Otherwise, they are pretty much the same as moles. They are on average shorter than ancient humans were and bats too are inconvenienced by severe lack of women, though seemingly to a lesser extent than mole people. They are also less prone to being born as freaks, though they do welcome freaks form elsewhere to move into their communities.

Other Characteristics

Same as moles, they have long lifespans and stronger immune systems, but are in many ways different. In comparison to mole people, their immune systems seem to be weaker, they aren’t immune to cancer and in general seem slightly less resilient. There are other conditions that moles can suffer from that bats seem to be immune to though, one of them being cold-bloodedness. Cold-bloodedness is specifically related to moles being part naked mole rats, so bats wouldn’t have to worry about it.

They also seem to be even more sensitive to sunlight, but this might be a consequence of their lifestyle. They live in Wasteland that’s one of the darker regions to begin with, and they also choose to be more active in the dark to keep up the appearance of vampires.

On a related note, they obviously aren’t vampires, but fruit bats. Because of this thor diet is more fruit based.
