Creation of Mole People
Moles are the main species of the world. They were created as a way to adapt to living underground in the post-apocalyptic era. They are a hybrid of mainly human, naked mole rat and olm, and are genetically modified to have a few other characteristics added for humans’ own vanity and being extra, to make them the best possible version of a new humanoid species. The basis for this new species were humans, so mole people share the majority of characteristics with them, but if you look closely you will find traits taken from other animals. Mole people are the basis for most of the other subspecies and share a lot of traits with them.
Appearance
Appearance wise, you'll quickly notice their pale skin and lack of body hair, which are all things that can be observed to different extents in all naked mole rats, olms, and even humans. This worked out well while living underground, but now makes them particularly sensitive to sun, which can be helped with Peep'Hole's sunscreen that actually works. Sure, in the past there was such a thing as black olm, but the only known member of this species today is Satan. Besides this, people have come up with a few more appearance related novelties, such as addition of red and purple eye colors, as well as red, pink, purple and blue hair colors. However, the most common hair color is black. They appear to be shorter on average as humans were, there is also less differences in height, as well as other physical characteristics between men and women as they were in humans. That's probably because everyone might just pretty much be a man. As there are no female Blank Characters, some speculate there is no such thing as true women. Even if they are there are a lot fewer than men, which is very likely a consequence of people messing around with genetic engineering to begin with. Damn people. However, as a consequence, Genders are now a bit complicated thing.
Other Characteristics
Beyond what meets the eye, moles have also taken on other traits of other animals, such as resistance to cancer and ability to survive long periods of time without food. This comes in handy in the coldest month of the year, when they tend to go into hibernation, just the same as their olm buddies. Similar to their olm buddies, moles as well were observed to lay eggs. Women don't have periods but just lay an egg every month. Then they probably have to fry it and eat it for breakfast with the family and- oh god X_X see that's why there's so few women in our world. :T
But on the bright side, they have quite long life spans that humans, as well as olms and naked mole rats were known for. Not to mention that their olm part allows them to possess exceptional regeneration capabilities, to the point of being able to regrow whole limbs, allegedly. Additionally, they aren't allowed to die until Glitter God and Satan say so, so they are actually pretty hard to kill, and likely to come back even if they do die. Because of this they tend to be more reckless and unfazed by minor inconveniences such as death or injury.
All this, combined with the fact that for a long time they lived and evolved in harsh conditions only the strongest individuals should survive, this makes them quite a resilient species. They are more likely to get stabbed or poisoned than to fall ill, but don't worry, there is still a fair share of nerds with like grass allergy or some nerd shit like that. However, this is not the worst thing that can happen. Due to humans' overly ambitious playing with genetics, moles are now subjected to a vast array of disturbing genetic mutations, that result in the existence of a whole subspecies of Freaks.
But, as fancy at all the stuff they got from olms and naked mole rats is, this wasn't always quite enough for people. Apart from their general human appearance they kept their human eyesight, as both olms and naked mole rats are pretty much blind. But here they differ from all the species is their diet. While living underground they mostly relied on a diet of cereals, seeds and nuts. Which was convenient, because after they were able to return to the surface, all they had available for sustenance was the seed collection salvaged by Satan himself from what used to be Svalbard in the old world, and is now part of Ice Palace. Animals were and still are rare, and much needed for things, other than food. Also what the hell kind of a psycho would kill a living being and eat it? :T "no but plants-" plants nothing. Plants are evil and deserve to die D:<
