The Forge

All the fighting is down in the Crucible, you should be safe here as long as you stick to the outskirts of the Forge. -Philadelphia Minuteman

Geography

The Forge is a large swath of land that makes up a good chunk of the state forest's southern tip. The Forge is the expanse of lightly forested hills and valleys that surround Valley Forge National Park, it stretches along the I-76 and buts up to the border of the Valley Forge Casino, it stretches as far north as Mount Clare and as far west as Aldham. Several small settlements and steel mill towns dot the Forge, which has made it such a sought after location by both the Enclave and the Brotherhood. Much of the fighting is clustered within the Crucible, the portion of the Forge that is considered its heart, the Crucible is carved out from the remnants of the National Park's boundaries. The brotherhood has created a large fortress in Audubon across the 422 from the Crucible and has been engaging Enclave forces who are based out of the Pre-war military base within the park itself. Both Enclave and Brotherhood forces are often engaged by minutemen and Prussian Militia forces when they encroach into the King of Prussia Area. The Enclave's primary base of operations is the Phoenix Steel Mill within the town of Phoenixville, an old pre-war textiles and steel production town across the river from Mount Clare.

Ecosystem

Much of the ecosystem of the Forge remains intact despite the fighting between the brotherhood and Enclave. The only place that has been noticeably altered by the fighting is the Crucible, which is marred with trenches, bunkers and deep artillery holes from either side as they dig in and assault each other for control of the region. The forge has almost identical weather patterns to the rest of the state forest save for the fact that in the summer if the days are dry, it may get winds blowing off of the Nova, Wasteland which can start wildfires within the Crucible and wider Forge area.

Ecosystem Cycles

The Forge suffers longer winters and shorter summers due to its close proximity to the Nova Wasteland.

Fauna & Flora

The only species that remain active within the Forge are the predator species that can evade Enclave and brotherhood patrols and still find enough food to feed their young. Mongrel and radowlf packs are the most common predator within this region, they have resorted to hunting feral ghouls and mire lurks for food, as the Caravan companies and brotherhood have cleared out much of brahmin and radstag population to feed their personnel.   The presence of conflict within the Forge has led to a few smaller super mutant tribes to come up from the Nova and begin to raid and settle into the wilderness just north past the I-76. Similarly, the amount of mass death within the area has also given rise to larger than normal feral ghoul pack roaming the area and preying on wounded or dead enclave and brotherhood patrols. Even some minutemen patrols are attacked by these ghoul packs.
