House Eltorchul
One of the Waterhaven Noble Houses and a prominent noble house of Waterdeep. They date back to the founding of the City of Splendors acting as expert spice traders. They got into the business of selling spell components and went down the logical path of magic.
They opened a school of magic in early 1342 DR. It caters to the Waterhaven elite who wish to learn magic. It was founded by Lord Thesp Eltorchul, the current Headmistress is Errya Eltorchul. The school is run out of their estate in the Sea Ward.
The current head of the house is Lady Errya Eltorchul one of Halaster´s former apprentices. She actually left on good terms with the Mad Mage, he gave her his blessing to return to her family´s estate and take over as head of the academy.
The house primarily deals in spell components with some spice sales on the side. There is some overlap. They also work in the trade of magic items. The house came into possession of the sentient trident Wave some time before 1493 DR. It was stolen by the wizard Keraptis and placed in White Plume Mountain. It was then returned by The People Who Do Jobs For Money, who then stole it back.
They then sent a number of assassins to assassinate the party. Unfortunately they encountered a number of assassins sent by Bhaal at the behest of Bane and the plot collapsed.
