Silvir Species in Eyila | World Anvil

Silvir

The Silvir used to be the most common type of Vir in Amalar, before the humans arrived. Now, those of them still on the eastern side of the continent act as servants, or at the very least, the bottom feeders of society. Those in the west sharpen their arrows and practice their magic in the hopes of taking on their former oppressors.

Civilization and Culture

History

When the original three Pimvir tribes split off, the Silvir were one of the two that settled in the south. While the Tervir took the plains and rocky outcroppings, the Silvir claimed the forests. They learned to move silently and quickly, to hide in plain sight, and the art of guerrilla warfare. They shrank and developed slightly lighter skin than their cousins, due to living under the shade of trees all the time.   When the Qoh arrived in Amalar, the Silvir were the first to come into contact with them, and thus, were the first to learn the art of magic. They quickly weaponized it, enchanting their bows and blades in an attempt to wipe out the Tervir. Their wars became more deadly, and more numerous.   Then the humans arrived. The Silvir refused to unite with the Tervir against them, and instead thought they could take them on with their magic. The humans were far more technologically advanced, though, and were able to withstand the attacks. The Silvir were nearly wiped out by the humans.   What remained of the Silvir were enslaved by the humans, used for any number of things. But they were able to find some allies within the humans, usually people who wanted to learn the art of magic from the Silvir, and came to sympathize with them during the process. Eventually, the human kingdom split, with many of the Silvir fleeing to the west with their human allies. That is where many of them live to this day, so much time having passed that slavery is no longer the cause of conflict, but the rivalry remains.
