Hades - King of the Dead

Hades is the God of the Dead and King of the Underworld.   He is an irritable and bad-tempered deity, but he is not malevolent, Hades cares deeply for his realm and its subjects, but his domain as ruler of Hades and Elysium is difficult and unending. This leads to much resentment towards the Gods of Olympus, specifically Hades’ brothers Poseidon and Zeus.   Because of Hades’ connection to death, and the cultural taboo around it, Hades is usually only referred to by epithets, such as “the King of the Dead” as to avoid invoking him or drawing his attention.   Hades is also a God of the Earth, specifically of precious metals and fertile soil. He was formerly assigned the domain of The Elemental Plane of Earth, but was pushed out by Gaia. Instead Thanatos gave him the domain over the lands of death.   Hades is the primary consort of the Goddess Persephone, Queen of the Underworld, who he shares rulership over the Underworld with. Hades oversees the Asphodel Meadows and the Fields of Punishment, with Persephone overseeing the Palace and Elysium.   Hades is not worshipped outside of specific cults. Though some may beseech Hades on matters of death or at funerals.   Domains: The Dead, Earth, Precious Metals, The Underworld and Wealth.   Symbols: Asphodels, a Helm, Mint, a Sceptre, Screech Owls and a Three-Headed Dog (Cerebus).

Apperance

Hades is exclusively depicted as masculine, commonly a middle aged figure with dark grey skin, curly black hair and thick beard. He is usually depicted wearing a crown, holding a sceptre and adorned with wealth and luxury. He is sometimes depicted wreathed in flames or riding a chariot pulled by skeletal horses.
