Elemental Gates

The Elemental Gates are a set of four naturally generating planar portals that connect Exorsia to one of the Elemental Planes, allowing for Elemental energy, as well as creatures, to traverse between the Planes. There is an Elemental Gate for each of the Elemental Planes, connecting Exorsia to the Plane of Air, Earth, Fire and Water.

The Elemental Gates are located in some of the most remote regions of Exorsia, either intentionally, or because the Gates alter the environment around them in such a way to make them remote. It is popularly theorised that the Alderan Desert of Hepsut was created as a direct result of the Elemental Gate of Earth located directly at the center of it, and the Elemental Gate of Fire is the prime suspect for the Fall of Vracaris. The area around the Elemental Gates also have an effect on the people that live there, with a majority of Genasi on Exorsia being born within one of the four Elemental Gate Communities.

While the Elemental Gate are quite dangerous, they are a necessary feature of Exorsia, as if an Elemental Gate is ever closed, a new one will form elsewhere on the planet within a few years or even months. It is theorised that during the early Silver Age, the Elemental Gates used to exist on the continent of Soliemia, before they were closed in the creation of the Archdragon Lords of Soliemia during the Dragon-Elf War, with the new Gates forming in the east instead. Though some have theorised that alternatively there were formerly eight Elemental Gates on Exorsia during the Silver Age.

Elemental Gate Communities

Around the four Elemental Gates of Exorsia, four settlements have been established to guard the gates from anything that would step through. The guardians of the Elemental Gates also facilitate the study of the Elemental Planes, the harnessing of Elemental energy, as well as preventing those on Exorsia from exploiting the Gates for their own nefarious means.

The Elemental Gate Communities are primarily populated by Primal Spellcasters, such as Druids and Elementalists, who dedicate their lives to the protection of the Gates, many travelling from all across the world to take up the cause, though many guardians are also born and trained within the communities. The Elemental Gate Communities are also populated by scholars and Mages studying the Elements, as well as religious worshipers of Deities associated with the Elements, particularly those who wish to reside close to the realm of their Deity.

The four Elemental Gate communities of Exorsia are the following:

Aeolrah

Aeolrah is built around the Elemental Gate of Air, located at the highest peaks of the Iron Mountains.

Gaerah

Gaerah is built around the Elemental Gate of Earth, located beneath Alderan Mountains at the heart of the Alderan Desert.

Thalassrah

Thalassrah is built around the Elemental Gate of Water. It is a large and heavily populated city located at the bottom of the Red Current sea.

Volcrah

Volcrah is built around the Elemental Gate of Fire, located within the largest volcano on the island of Scorchland, Terrasmus.
