Count Merillion
Background and Role in Our Story
Born into the Merillion bloodline, Arnaud was raised in the high society of Thrantium from an early age. Educated in manners, history, politics, philosophy, warfare, economics and all the trappings of the gentry Arnaud was destined to be Count of one of the most powerful counties in Viseria, due to the presence of the Mage's guild within the city. Tragically, in 662VD, Arnaud's parents were killed in a storm at sea. Catapulted to be Count of Thrantium at such a young age, Count Merillion has done exceedingly well. With the guidance of the Guildmasters, the council and especially Jorie Letheniel, the Court Mage, Count Merillion has gone from strength to strength. Jorie wisely decided that it would be best for the young Count to spend large parts of his youth in Noverium, the capital of Viseria, in order to build links within the royal court and to learn the game from the best. The Count did very well and began a close relationship with Princess Philomela, being of a similar age. When our heroes first arrived at Thrantium Dockside, they discovered that the city had been locked down by Sir Hama Bash, due to a number of issues and the inability to deal with them while the Count was away at Noverium with a large retinue of guards. Later, the bonk squad had sorted many of the issues that plagued the city and Count Merillion returned, hosting a ball for his birthday and arrival home. Our adventurers had gained invites to the party through Legate Biri, but had also learned of an ensuing plot by the Four Fingers to attempt an assassination at the ball. The bonk squad were able to save the Count's life. The next day, as reward, the squad were made honorary members of the council of Thrantium by the Count. Then, standing up in front of the council, Vyth explained of the need to evacuate the city due to the coming threat of attack. Persuaded by the paladin's pleas, Count Merillion agreed to evacuate the inhabitants. Count Merillion survived the fey siege-stone attack on Thrantium and as a result of their bravery, made the bonk squad his wards, meaning they could use his seal and act in his name throughout Viseria, as well as having honorary seats on the council of Thrantium and being given the abandoned warehouse of the Four Fingers in Thrantium Dockside.Appearance
Count Merillion is a dashing young man, who dresses in the finest clothing and is very well groomed. He stands fairly tall and holds himself with great poise. He has wavy dark hair and amber eyes.Personality
Likes and Dislikes
Count Merillion likes dances and is a keen chess player (and a consistent chess winner). He tries to ride his horses through his county as often as possible, enjoying the outdoors and to personally check in on his jurisdiction and subjects. Count Merillion dislikes the tedious diplomacy and power balance of managing the Mage's guild of Viseria alongside the council of Thrantium, but realises that it is necessary. The Count is not fond of sea travel, due to the demise of his parents.Personality quirks
Count Merillion is an excellent horse rider and dancer. Always appearing gracious, charismatic and unintimidating, underneath he has been raised by Jorie to be extremely calculating; always attempting to be several steps ahead of his enemies.
