Yalandlara, First Hanged
Warlord of the Water Yalandlara Reanna-Orgelth-Trevanen (a.k.a. Yanni)
Captain Yalandara was an Oenkanen pirate and the the first to claim the title of Warlord. She raised an armada of twenty ships and was instrumental in helping the Rivaen rebel against the Langites during the Sylvan War, but was eventually hanged by the River Kings despite her aid. Swearing vengeance with her final breath, she merged her soul with that of the tree she was hanged from and her ship's animus, becoming a unique undead similar to a dryad. Now, her tree is used for the mass hanging of pirates, but she does not let their nooses ever rot, and if a non-pirate gets too close to one of the free ropes she catches them and hangs them. She also is known to serve as a repository for treasures, but has traded them in exchange for other stolen goods in the past. Pirate legend holds that there is a special ritual that can appease the Captain and release the ship Dragonheart from her tree, but no one can quite agree on what the exact ritual is.
