Ship Animus

A Ship Animus is a spirit that inhabits vehicles. They can appear in just about anything, but are most common in watercraft, especially in larger vessels. In it's true form, a Ship Animus is raw energy and not bound to any particular shape, but when manifesting they typically take a shape inspired by the vehicle's name. They seem to require humanoids in some capacity in order to manifest, but they do not die with a crew. Rather, when a ship is destroyed so is it's animus. They vary wildly in willingness and ability to communicate with their crews and general intelligence. Most animi never manifest a physical form unless forced to by magic or to fight another of their kind, but some take great pleasure in spending time with their crew. 
Most Ship Animi will engage in battle against their counterparts when two ships clash. This battle is seen by mortal watchers, but it is only a representation of the conflict that mortals can comprehend. The actual spiritual engagement can only be seen with spells such as True Sight.

Genetics and Reproduction

Ship Animi spawn into being seemingly randomly and do not reproduce in any way understood by mortalkind. There is some speculation that they are created by the belief of crewmen, but this has not been proven.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

A Ship Animus is aware of everything in relation to the vehicle they inhabit. Without needing to think about it, they know exactly how many people are standing aboard them, how fast they are moving, the number of objects inside of a crate, etc. However, they cannot perceive outside of themselves unless they manifest a physical form, in which case they have roughly the same ability to perceive as a humanoid in addition to their ship's intellectus.
