Bloodline Mutation
A bloodline mutation is a spontaneous emergence of supernatural powers and the ability to utilize arcane magic. This condition is known to be the result of ancestral mingling with various magical creatures, notably dragons, but in rare events ancestral proximity to magical phenomena is enough to corrupt a bloodline. There is no known way to reliably produce a blood mutant.
The mutations usually manifest themselves around adolescence, but of course exceptions exist. The problem with classifying blood mutants is that there appear to be an unknown number of possible mutations, each of which manifests differently, and each blood mutant is unique among their own kind. Humans are more likely to be blood mutants than any other race. Several specific blood mutations are known to exist, such as dragon, phoenix, orc, and aberration.
Blood mutants who develop early mastery of arcane magic are often referred to as sorcerers, while those that develop powers but lesser magic are sometimes called bloodragers.
