Shadbak
The greatest Hunter in the Segai history.
First Chieftain
Shadbak's parents were among the first Segai created by Vangrakath, the lord of the Beastman. She had been raised to hunt and fight, since she was a cub, and the family deeply respected the laws of their god - especially that only the strongest should survive. As a rhino-segai, Shadbak inherited tough skin and strong skull, and although her eyesight was weaker than her peers, she was able to use her hearing to parry attacks that were out of her line of sight. Due to her endurance and great physical strength, she was noticed early on.
One of the Segai shamans took her under her wing and began to teach her how to read and write, the faith of Vangrakath and how to make decisions in difficult situations. She taught her how to speak before many Beastman, how to kindle the fire in the souls of the hunters (warriors).
At this time, the Segaii lived in families next to each other, and did not form a society. Vangrakath knew that his disorganized people would soon crushed by the powers around them. He ordered that all self-proclaimed powerful hunters engage in a life-and-death battle, to determine who is the best suited to lead the Segai. (He was able to create new Segaii later anyway.)
The young Shadbak had not planned to enter the fray, but her master convinced her that she could emerge victorious from the encounter. So it was. When the six-day massacre was over, only the young, wounded rhino-girl was left standing.
Then unearthly laughter shook the jungle, and a huge greataxe fell from the sky onto the blood-soaked battlefield. Shadbak was awarded the unholy relic of Vangrakath, and the title of the First Chieftain.
Soon after she led her hunters against the Surta elves, and conquered the part of Damus' jungle that is still known as the Hunting grounds. Her first major military success was the siege of Darahl, the city-state of the Dwarves. After that, she lead the military campaign all the way trough Damus, to the main gate of Anisera. There she handed over the leadership to her two eldest sons, who fought a life-or-death duel for the sacred weapon of Vangrakath.
Shadbak returned to Ledkir, where the news of the city's capture still reached her, before challenged her daughter to a duel to die in combat, true to her religion.

The Fang of Vangrakath
I just got to say I LOVE your layout I want to do a custom one for my own world but that's a can of worms best left for another time. This one is nice and concise I tend to do alot of sprawling articles but thats mostly because I'm laying down foundations for future articles. I still get bothered by AI I get it has value for people with two left thumbs but the Ballad of the AI Bro is a tale best left for another time.
Thank You! People are often messed up by Openart A.I., but if only a few details are the problem, you can get them to fix them on the Edit tab (I use it frequently). I usually generate 10-12 images before I find something to use :D /Although I started an online drawing course, I am still far from illustrating and I don't have the tools for digital paintings yet./
>-> did I hear tools? Wacoms are dirt cheap nowadays compared to what they use a little bitty one I wanna say 6x8 was about 60 bucks here in USD and there's boatloads of apps and programs available. Krita is prob the best bang for the buck and there might be some free open-source options out there. Look forward to seeing future works!
Unfortunately, an iPad would be cheaper in our area (country), but for now I'm just dreaming about it. Of course, once I've gone back to work, I can easily start saving for it.
