Yitreal

[History]

Considered to be the gateway to the north, Yitreal is a three day caravan ride north of Viggrom . A last stop for many explorers and adventures the small town represents the last vestige of civilization before the northern wilds. Founded on snowcapped hills, the city itself can be hard to find as its buildings are frequently painted white constantly blowing snow drifts. Known for its production of high-tier exploring and adventuring gear and tools, the town has made itself something of a hotbed for conspiracy theorists and cryptozoologists.   Tales persist in the town's message board the Dreaded Iterance more colloquially as Dreaddit. Rumored sightings of the Cryssalice, Baga the man-eating Yeti, and Vanru - the last of the Goliaths (just to name a few) are the constant talk of the town and spur travel to and through Yireal year round.   Many are convinced the constant talk of cryptids and the occult that drive the town's tourism and commerce is an elaborate ploy by the mayor to keep the struggling town afloat. The revenue from tourists seeking fame and adventure by documenting or even capturing one of these rare creatures is perhaps the only real commerce driver in an otherwise sleepy frozen landscape.

[Locations]

Found as a series of intersecting corridors at the center of town, The Cryptid Corner hosts a number of small shops that are the town's lifeblood and somewhat of a tourist trap. The shops and stands open on the cryptid corner vary throughout the year, but its a safe bet that if your interest is exploration, you will find something here to fit your needs.   The Snowdrift Inn is no exception to the fervor of conspiracy theories and urban legends on which the town's fame was built. Hosting weekly séances and rituals to entreat the mysterious creatures that are native to the area.   Beacon Hill is the farthest point north one can go within the town, atop the large hill is a flaming pyre that is kept alight through the diligent work of the Pyromancer Guild. An offshoot of the Immolate faith obsessed with the preservation of the visage of Ignis, The God of Fire . The dwarves of Yitreal found the inclusion of this guild mutually beneficial as the pyre, which can be seen from miles away acts as a point of reference for travelers returning from the northern wilds.
