Temple to Astrid

Every major city, and most large towns, have a temple to Astrid, god of life. All of Astrid's temples are not just places of worship; they are places of healing for both body and soul.
Life is sacred and must be protected.
— Followers of Astrid
Worship and offerings are made on the ground floor of the main building in the Sanctum. Each temple is run by a Sage who oversees the day to day, leads the people in worship, and reports to the Great Sage at the Temple of Life; the Sage's private office is behind the Sanctum in the Inner Sanctum. The Inner Sanctum also houses an apothecary workshop.   The Hospitale is on the second, and possibly third, floor depending on the size, of the Main Building. The top of the structure houses the residence for the in-house clergy as well as rooms for those who roam the countryside.   The temple garden is located between the Main Building and the Veterinary Building. In addition to the open air gardens it contains a greenhouse, for year round access to healing herbs, and apiary. The garden transitions to the paddock that abuts the Veterinary Building.

Healing

Although Astrid's Healers and Medicants usually treat the sick and/or injured in their homes, there are times when patients require observation. There is a hospitale located above the prayer sanctum of each temple to house for these cases. The Hospitale has a specific ward for infectious disease.   While the Healers can use their Gift of Spirit Magic to alleviate most injuries and sicknesses, the Medicants focus on healing through remedies and physical medicine.

Animal Healing

Behind the prayer sanctum, the Verhere treat beasts that require long term treatment and/or monitoring. Like the Healers and Medicants, Vehere do most of their healing on the road, however some patients require extended care.   Extended care is often required for injured wildlife until they can be safely released back into the wild.

Springtide

As the holiday tied to Astrid, and one of her twin daughters, Lephanie, Springtide, Spring's Waxing Crescent Moons is celebrated at every temple with a fair in the temple garden. They also provide honey, egg custard, and carrot cakes for the celebrants.

Floor Plan

The circular patterns associated with Astrid, and repeated in architecture dedicated to The Sculptor, are attractive, but make the layout of the hospitale a bit cumbersome.
