King Therocles dictates the laws of the city.

Defences

3 walls protect Alochrin, the third and final circling the castle itself. The walls are lined with canons and Balistae, and maned by well trained guards. The wizards tower provides a focus for Syrak the court wizard to defend the city from should the outer wall be breached. The elite Gryphon riders the Soaring Knights guard the city from the Storm Eyrie. A lake and forest limit the directions of attack.

Industry & Trade

Trade with the Storm Merchants and taxation of the farms in the surrounding area provide the chief products of trade for Alochrin. The forest next to the city once saw adventurers returning with wild goods and bestial treasures but the conscription efforts have effectively ended this.

Famous Treasures
  • The Captains Vintage: A very old bottle of rather poor quality rum, which by legend was stolen from the pirate king. it is of course not to be drunk, it is prized as meant to be stolen, and those who can take it or successfuly defend it are considered to gain a great measure of credit in the eyes of other thieves. To those in the know among Alochrin's shadowed corners it is currently held by none other that the guild master of the thieves guild.
  • Well of the Hierophant: This Ocean blue uncut sapphire is abitlarger than fist sized and its edges have been smoothed much like a piece of sea glass. Looking into it gives one the feeling that they are staring into a deep well, or the ocean itself. It was dug up many years ago from a Sakoran ruin, and is considered quite cursed. It's entire expeditionary team reportedly slowly rotted away and died over a scant number of days upon their return. Since then many of its owners have died in unfortunate accidents, and even many thieves haver returned the stone due to the bad luck that befell them soon after its taking. It is currently kept under the care of the Church of Light in Alochrin.
  • The Throne: A 25 ft. diameter by roughly 2 ft. tall slab of stone taken from the Storm Eyrie hundreds of years ago long before the current empire. It was used as a Dais for the kings throne for generations and has since become a collectors item that changes hands every few generations when one house or another falls from grace or wealth.
  • Luna Clavis: This rather large ornate key’s handle is a gem fashioned to look like the moon, most curiously its size and shape follow to match the cycle of whatever moon hangs in the sky. Once every tenth year during the winter equinox The gem lets of a brilliant glow for the hour after 11pm and starts to flit about the air at great speeds. The Von Icses invite over important guest to watch the spectacle in a sealed room within the palace.
  • Nuldir’s Scorn: A painting believed to originate from Ethlandir. It depicts a shinning elvish figure in the background with a menacing frown, the rays of his light fall upon a glade in the foreground where undead are seen being burned to ash by the light. It was taken from Eloren during one of Sephocles sackings and now sits in the royal palace. It was once considered one of the most treasured pieces of Eloren before its removal, and is still a sore subject among the long memories of its nobility.
  • Scintillating Stone: A brick formed entirely of magic, it is Perportedly a building block of a long dead civilization called the Tel'Aurun. It's nebulous form is kept incased in magic, requiring frequent refreshing as it seems to consume whatever magic energy is provided.

History

Alochrin was found around the ancient Storm Eyrie, over the ruins of an ancient Drake settlement.

Architecture

Mostly 1 story buildings built of brick and stone with tile rooves. It has a large half moon wall around the entire city coming to the edge of Torn Lake. There are two inner walls. One around the palace in the center of the city and one around the main housing district of the city. The houses are are mostly cooler colors and the palace stands out in center with it’s tall white towers and shinning silver roof. Beside the castle a towering stone eyrie brushes the base of the clouds. Floating upon the lake is a beautiful stone manor with exotic plants flowering along its marble walls.

Geography

The south side of the city butts onto a large natural lake and to the west is the thick dark forest of the Thornglade. The rest of the city is surrounded by fertile fields that are rich with farms and livestock.

Primarily crop and livestock but also Lumber, monster materials, and fish
