Ramerian Empire

The Ramerian Empire is the successor to Cylia, a monarchy that underwent many changes over its 174 years of existence.

Founding

Towards the end of the 5th century, the already incredibly weakened Cylian ruler was defeated by peasant rebels, forcing him to considerably lower taxes and give up what little power he still wielded. During the last 500 years of devolving Cylian society, the Ramerian continent started prospering from the increased autonomy while the Vatelles started becoming extremely tribal.
On the 12th of , Emperor Charles I united large parts of Southern Rameria into what was then called the Ramerian Confederation of Cylia and renounced the old Cylian ruler. Over the next 34 years of his rule, he managed to bring the rest of the continent under his control through both diplomacy and war.
The Vatelles became an important trading partner and due to their radically different culture and hierarchy was largely spared from Ramerian ambition.

Diplomatic Relations

Over the years, Rameria was involved in countless conflicts and other diplomatic shenanigans, as such only the most important are listed here:

The Vatelles were a major trading partner for most of its history, although they have grown increasingly isolationist and trade agreements had to be made with individual tribal leaders.

Xingqin was a long-time rival of Rameria and there were multiple border conflicts over various small islands, yet it all cumulated into the The Xingqin War.

The relationship with the New Republic was highly varying, with some Ramerian Emperors looking to (unsuccesfully) repeal the Rose Treaty and tensions rising to a point similar to that before the Invasion of Hell while others instead established trade relations with the devils.

The Ramerians suffered a lot more from this defeat, however: their whole country exploded into a violent civil war, lasting mere months as the war-weary populace was more than willing to quickly lay down their arms again, even if it meant being absorbed into one of the various new-formed power blocks on Rameria: the Ramerian Successor States
