New Republic
The New Republic, more commonly known as Hell, is the primary Nation of the Devils and is located right past the Carnelian Canal.
It was involved in a large military conflict 673 years ago when Cylia tried to invade it with disastrous consequences. This caused the once proud nation to fall, Saint Waidwen to die and serving as a starting point for the modern calendar. This war and the countless myths and legends that the few veterans brought back to their homes still serves to scare both children and grown adults to this day.
There are old reports that suggest that the laws of physics don't quite work in the same way down there.
Their diplomatic relations with other countries consist solely of trade and freedom of movement, they are completely uninterested in any form of military alliance.
The actual inhabitants of it call themselves the Revolutionaries, even though the broader public simply calls them devils. Those that fought on the other side of the war are called Traitors, Loyalists, Outlaws, and whatever other derogatory term comes to a revolutionary's mind at any given time.
They are also known to love to hunt. They ocassionaly rent hunting grounds from nobles and nations, only to leave it nigh-empty of any life.
Their weapon of choice seems to be a simple sword, which seems to be a strange choice given that modern armour can easily negate any damage done with it. However, anyone who has seen one fight can attest tha they don't care much for that supposed disadvantage.
On the overworld, their building style seems very foreign: usually huge stone buildings with wide arches and high roofs, decorated with brass and with windows a lot larger than what can be built by mortals.
There is also a Trade Treaty in place with Xingqin, permitting them freedom of movement.
The Republic wants to guarantee freedom of movement for all of its citizens on the Overworld, although it isn't quite known whether this is a simple foreign policy or part of a larger plan. It also demands that any outlaw devils, i.e. devils that do not belong to the Republic be delivered to Revolutionaries for due process. It is however unknown how to distinguish a revolutionary from an outlaw. The grandest Outpost of theirs on the Overworld is the Brass Embassy, even though there are several other smaller outposts all over the world where one can interact with officials of the republic.
They also export the so-called Daubmen . Seemingly emotionless beings made out of clay with exceptional strength that follow any commands given to them. They are excellent for hard manual labour yet useless for warfare due to their peaceful demeanour.
It is unknown what, if anything, Hell imports from the Overworld.
They also use the generally dumber Demons as pets and guards for their various structures on the overworld, including the grand Brass Embassy, very likely also to be used in the case of war.
A Brief Overview
The New Republic is a large nation populated by Devils that is inaccessible for mortals, unless you get a ticket for one of their curious steamers, that will take you straight to it. It is one-way only.It was involved in a large military conflict 673 years ago when Cylia tried to invade it with disastrous consequences. This caused the once proud nation to fall, Saint Waidwen to die and serving as a starting point for the modern calendar. This war and the countless myths and legends that the few veterans brought back to their homes still serves to scare both children and grown adults to this day.

Terminology
The New Republic itself is often simply called The Republic or Hell, the latter being a name taken from the holy scriptures of Eolas. The actual inhabitants of it call themselves the Revolutionaries, even though the broader public simply calls them devils. Those that fought on the other side of the war are called Traitors, Loyalists, Outlaws, and whatever other derogatory term comes to a revolutionary's mind at any given time.
Culture
Assessing the culture of the Devils is rather difficult, as they tend to differ a lot from one another. However, they all seem to be rather reserved and averse to violence. This however changes as soon as they are embaressed or certain of their ideals are attacked: in that case, they are swift to retaliate, often with lethal force.
Architecture
Would you sail down the Carnelian Canal, you would eventually see the huge gates of Hell on the horizon, surrounded by both the dark Undersea and kilometers of huge rose-fields on each side. It is unknown what lies beyond. On the overworld, their building style seems very foreign: usually huge stone buildings with wide arches and high roofs, decorated with brass and with windows a lot larger than what can be built by mortals.
Diplomatic Relations
All Ramerian Successor States are forced by contract to permit free movement to all Devils from the Republic. This is still a stipulation from The Invasion of Hell, yet it is largely unknown why modern rulers still follow it. Many believe that they just want to avoid any further conflict with Hell, in first line with how battered their militaries currently are. There is also a Trade Treaty in place with Xingqin, permitting them freedom of movement.
The Republic wants to guarantee freedom of movement for all of its citizens on the Overworld, although it isn't quite known whether this is a simple foreign policy or part of a larger plan. Trade
The New Republic's main export is Nevercold Brass and Devilbone. The sale is completely unrestricted on their side, willing to trade it with anyone who has the ressources required to buy it.They also export the so-called Daubmen . Seemingly emotionless beings made out of clay with exceptional strength that follow any commands given to them. They are excellent for hard manual labour yet useless for warfare due to their peaceful demeanour.
It is unknown what, if anything, Hell imports from the Overworld.
Military
Nobody quite knows the army structure of the new Republic (aside from the Devils themselves of course), yet it appears as though every devil undergoes some sort of military training in both martial weapons and the Correspondence, making each and everyone of them a fearsome fighter. This points at a mandatory military service and therefore a large and professional standing army. They also use the generally dumber Demons as pets and guards for their various structures on the overworld, including the grand Brass Embassy, very likely also to be used in the case of war.
