Devils
The devils are a race of seemingly immortal beings dwelling in the underworld. While it isn't certain which race is older, the Devils' civilization never fell and as such has far more knowledge of their own past.
They behave very formally and dress accordingly, making it easy to mistake them for nobles. They seem to speak with an awkward accent, where rather than mispronouncing words as a whole, they instead leave awkwardly long pauses between the wrong words or stress the wrong syllables.
Some of them like to buy souls, but never the ones in the Brass Embassy.
The most detailed reports of combat against them stems from Cylia's failed Invasion of Hell around 600 years ago. They tell of them using handheld cannons - a technology unknown to the mortal races at that point - that could fell a man before he even sees the enemy. They also tell of burning fields overgrown with roses which thorns could slit a man's throat if he as much as brushed against it. But the thing that seems to strike fear into the war's veterans the most are easily the brass triremes, strangely archaic ships that still seemingly perform their job admirably.
However, they started travelling the Surface in greater numbers recently, making the sight of a devil a lot more common than it once was. They also preside over the Brass Embassy in Azgaar , a place for any mortal to contact Devils.
Characteristics
Devils are fiercely dangerous beings of the Underworld who look a lot like any other humanoid person - from man to elf - and it is unknown whether there is a real relationship between these species or the physical similarities are a way to hide their true nature. They usually have dangerously sharp teeth and either yellow or red eyes, even at times sporting stereotypical horns. They behave very formally and dress accordingly, making it easy to mistake them for nobles. In Combat
It is very rare for them to get into a fight since few are foolhardy enough to assail them while they also rarely ever partake in any sort of armed conflict. Yet in the rare cases when their hand is forced, they display expert swordsmanship and an impressive command of the Correspondence. The most detailed reports of combat against them stems from Cylia's failed Invasion of Hell around 600 years ago. Habitat
The Devils live in the Underworld, on the very first (massive) landmass past the Carnelian Canal in what is known as The New Republic. For that reason, they are often considered the guardians of the Underworld, both ensuring that mankind can't freely access it while keeping the various demons inside. However, they started travelling the Surface in greater numbers recently, making the sight of a devil a lot more common than it once was.
